Made it!

Well , overweight and over 50 but still managed it.

In fact, just left my phone at home and run until I felt like walking, and pretty sure I ran at least 4 miles...actually enjoying it now.

So,for anyone who starts off running in the dark because you don't want anyone see you in lycra....guess what, nobody cares! The only thing that matters is that you are getting fitter.

So...to all the more rubenesque people out there...you are not alone.....you can do it. If I can, anyone can .

Good luck everyone, and....finally the world won't end if you get stuck on a week, just repeat it until you are ready to move on.

I head out early to avoid crowds chasing me off with pitchforks and jeering. I like that the world is quiet and not many people have to witness me pretending to run 😳

Honestly give it a few weeks and you will start to not care..as you get fitter your self esteem will rise..and if people see you running they will see a woman who is so very proud of herself..(you remind me of myself, cracking the Shamu jokes if I go swimming etc)...But honestly ...report back to me in four weeks...it worked for me.

I have only run out in the open once, I really don't like it so I end up running up and down my garden. Wish I could get confidence to run outside but I don't have it.

I do hope you get to move on from the garden, I honestly know how you feel, but somehow I got more able to be seen out ....I bought some long baggy t shirts that helped..but meanwhile the garden is a hell of a lot better than the sofa. You should be proud of yourself.

I am 57 and too heavy - by 4 stone. Tend to run where take dog for walk or some streets that aren't full of people. I have seen all shapes and sizes and ages running - some runners smile (even the slim fit ones) - others stare straight ahead. The people that comment have been middle aged or older, similar size to.me and they say encouraging things. I could say it is because I sound and look like a frustrated rhino as I slowly overtake them and they don't say it to the young slim.antelopes that sprint past- have decided to accept their words in spirit meant. It is good for us to make the effort and it is us who.will.benefit so try not to worry. Some leggings and a baggy tshirt - and a pair of headphones to listen to music and you're in your own world. Go for it girl!
