Week 7, Run 1

Did run 1 of week 7 this morning and it was the first run of the program that I haven’t enjoyed. That’s not to say that some other runs haven’t been tough - they have! - but I have always felt positive and have enjoyed them. I don’t even feel particularly good after having done this one and I usually have the endorphins swirling around and feel great. I guess everyone has a bad day at the office sometimes with any activity... Here’s hoping the next one is better!

At least you got out and did it, another one off the list is how I see it. I did week 7 run 1 this morn too. Got soaked in the process and ended up going too fast just to get round dog walkers and traffic but I survived. Tomorrow is another day so don't worry about an off day today

Well done for completing it, Firehorse! I did this run yesterday and really struggled. And I gave up 2 minutes before the end, I just didn't have the will power to pull through and my chest felt really tight :(. It was the first run I did not finish. I hope the next run will be better but I fear that now that I have given up once, giving up again will be much easier. I know that there are good and bad days, but still.... Maybe I will build in a 'transition week' of 3 x 23 minute runs before re-doing week 7? Let's see how the next run goes tomorrow..

Thanks, Bea. Bad luck about your run and not finishing. I know what you mean about having stopped one once might mean you are more likely to stop again, but I think we should give ourselves permission to stop before the end if continuing doesn’t feel right. You ran for 23 minutes and that will still build up your stamina and is a huge achievement! I would maybe try to repeat w7r1 rather than doing a transition week. You ran 25 minutes for w6r3 so you can do it! My w7r2 is tomorrow, probably at about 8am. Good luck with yours - please let me know how you get on!

I did week 7 run 1 today. After a really positive 25min run 2 days ago, this felt utterly hard and different! I stopped after 8 mins then did another 8 mins but no way my body was going to do 25... I wonder if I’m tired from the last one or just not hydrated? Didn’t enjoy it at all 😕

Aw that sounds tough, crystal_snowflake. All my week 7 runs were tough and I did finish them but didn’t enjoy them. I’ve done 2 of week 8 and they have been much better, so I wonder if it’s a stamina thing, or even the weather (which was rubbish during my w7 - lots of heavy downpours which I either got caught in or made me move my run time to the afternoon which I don't really like). Have a rest day and try again tomorrow - you've come this far so you can do it! Good luck x
