W5R2 - 5 day gap between runs!

Ran W5R1 on Monday. Knees a bit sore so left it an extra day to think about doing run 2 but then became ill and spent Thursday and most of yesterday in bed with a stomach bug. Felt fine this morning, but felt really nervous about running 2 x 8 mins after so long a break. But it was the easiest run I've done?!? I think it's because my expectations were so low and I told myself I could stop if I needed to. While it was a mere shuffle (small children were passing me) I was so surprised it was so achievable. This plan is amazing!!! (Still really worried about run 3 though - 20 mins is such a leap).

Well done for completing your run 👏👏👏. It’s such a nuisance when illness or injury interrupts our running plans. That you competed R2 with ease just shows you that you are more than ready for R3. Yes, it’s a milestone run. The program ensures that you are ready and you ARE! You just have to believe it yourself! Good luck with it, take it steady and you’ll be fine.

Brilliant advice Jools, I was so surprised by today, I'll keep it in mind for future runs which may not go so well. Will update if I manage W5R3

Well done for getting out there and doing it!

If it gives you any confidence W5r3 was my most comfortable of all the runs ... and I’m not a natural runner at all ...

This run got in my head beforehand but it will be easier than you think...

you have got this! 👏👏👏

Can’t wait to read your post

Glad to hear the extra break gave you a boost. I was running every other day with some days being better than others. However, after completing the C25k and running on my own schedule I discovered I would do better with a 2 - 3 gap. I just completed a 10k run today! Keep up the good work! 👍😁

You don’t lose any significant fitness in such a short time so you’ll be fine to carry on if you feel up to it 😊

Well done.

you have discovered for yourself that your hard won ability does not disappear overnight......or even over five nights.

This breakdown of W5 may help allay your fears healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

You can do this.

Great reading there, especially the break down. I'm doing the plan with my 13 year old who struggles to keep up with me walking and then flies off for the running parts. 😆

How lovely.

If you can catch them at the right age you can change their lives forever.....for good.
