Stuck! Week 6

So was doing really great up to week 5. Got to week 5 Run 3 and was so pleased that it went so well. Repeated it a couple of days later because I could. Week 6 /1 was really hard but lots of people said it might be so was prepared. Week 6/2 I also found hard, so repeated it 3 days later (a very hot and humid day) struggled a bit but did complete. That was on Tuesday, today is Saturday and I keep putting off my run. Cannot seem to summon the energy or motivation however hard I try and am now worried I have left it too long. Any tips ?

You haven't left it too long.

As stated in the guide to the plan, healthunlocked.com/couchto5... you lose no significant condition in the first two weeks of non running, so that is no reason to prevaricate.

Everything going on in our lives can impact on our performance as a runner. Restedness, hydration and nutrition are at the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised to enable enjoyable running. Get this right, along with pacing so that you can hold a conversation as you run and this is achievable, although best to avoid running in the full heat of the day........but you have to want to do it.

Why did you start?

Have those reasons changed?

You are over half way through the plan and doing great and many people have a wobble then go on to glorious running careers.

Absolutely not! Get those trainers on and get out there (when it’s cooler if it’s hot where you are).

You can do it, push all negative energy out of your head and go for it 😀

I had a wobble just before week 5 run 3, did the run felt elated then week 6 run 1 came and I came crashing down again. I think it’s because we’re now in the “serious” zone ie. our brain is trying to catch up to the fact that we’re serious about this shnizzle dizzle.

I’m just taking it run by run now and trusting in the programme. So each run and don’t think too much. It’s kinda crazy isn’t it?! We’re running!!! 😂

Thank you all! Your encouragement went I went out (that felt like a triumph in itself) and ran week 6/2 again. I went a bit slower and It was completely fine. Feel confident about 6/3 now. Will do it on Monday. 😊
