Surviving Week 6

Week 6 completed and it included my best and worst runs so far. Run 1 looked easier in theory than week 5 run 3 but I really struggled with it - not sure if I was just having a bad day or was still recovering from the 20 minute run 2 days earlier. Run 2 was a bit better but I was still very glad to hear Laura telling me I could stop running. Run 3 though was great - I could have run a bit longer (but didn't). I guess you have to grit your teeth sometimes on the hard runs and enjoy the good ones. For the first time I actually believe I'll get to 30 minutes - bring on W7!

Just try to relax into these longer runs... the whole programme teaches us about the different disciplines in our running... Let the new running legs begin to find their happy pace... and just take it very slowly and steadily.

Enjoy the freedom of the run:)

Very pleased to hear this. I’m due to do week 6 run 3 today and really struggled with both the other runs in week 6 which has knocked my confidence somewhat. I thought they should have been fine after I managed the 20 minute one last week so was disappointed in myself when I had to walk in both the ten minute ones. Not for very long, but still... It was my breathing which got out of hand, rather than my legs. I’ve been trying to lengthen my stride and move my arms a bit more as so far my running has been more like shuffling. However I’m thinking that in order to complete 25 minutes, I might need to go back to my former “style”😀. Wish me luck and good luck with week 7!

Hope your run went/goes well. I'd definitely stick with the style that works for you.
