Hi I'm new here, joined last night and have enjoyed reading lots of supportive posts and feel very inspired by them all. I wish I had discovered this in week 1! I've just finished week 6 and this is the first time I have ever ran. I turned 50 this year and I faced the reality I'm very overweight and extremely unfit! I also recovered from multiple pulmonary embolisms in both lungs and then quite major surgery in the last four years. I have never felt so amazing as I do now. I still can't believe that someone like me is out there running and can only say to anyone, if I can do it, then the programme is a miracle worker!

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Thank you for the welcome. I am reading and taking on board all this excellent advice. Definitely need to do the strengthening exercises as I’m anxious that injury doesn’t stop me in my tracks and make me feel like I’m failing. I want to keep this motivation going.
