It’s the beginning of W2 in the 12 week isolation advised by the CMO/Gov, and I just wanted to say Hi. I’ve been following every bodies progress with interest, (albeit I’m a little jealous) and you’re all doing fab 👍😁
I had a few days in the doldrums, but can’t go on like that for 3 months, so kicked my own a*se, and have tried a few workout videos recommended here by various people, and done some gardening, and done some laps of the garden round the house which includes 2 flights of steps. Husband is also doing the latter.
Husband, who normally works away all week, came home after I got the text and is now working from home. He’d only just returned after self isolating for 7 days with what turned out to be a cold (we think). I very thankful for that as I’d have been a nervous wreck every week when he came home for the weekend, in case he’d been exposed! Doesn’t that sound weird? It’s like being part of an apocalypse movie.
I know I’ll have to do the plan again afterwards, but that’s something to look forward to in my opinion!
Keep up the good work everybody, enjoy your runs, but most of all stay safe 😷😁
Edit: Forgot to say that I volunteered to be a NHS responder as there is a role you can do from home if you’ve had a recent DBS check. I’d had one for that job I got a way back, which was put on hold when this happened. At least I might be able to contribute something.

That's the word I've been looking for! Apocalyptic! It's like being in a sci-fi movie and all you want to do is get out of it. You're better off indoors safe and sound. I'm managing to get out - we live in a rural location and for the first time tomorrow I shall be running direct from the house. I've felt a bit down today so I'm looking forward to it but as I've had an ankle issue I'm going to run slow and take it easy.
I know exactly what you mean when you say you'll look forward to doing the plan again - I've done it twice!
Good that you're keeping your eye on us 🧐 Take care of yourselves - 😷 and each other.
I’m working from home and getting paid for the privilege, so things could be worse. It’s autumn but the weather remains mild and I’m out nearly every day either hiking or running. There are a lot more people out walking than usual but everyone is politely keeping their distance. I’ve got a short hard hike that I do and have started running bits of it with the goal of improving my pb each time, it’s a really hard slog and a great workout. It used to take me just under an hour with several stops, I powered through it in just over 35 minutes yesterday and I’m aiming to get to 30 before this isolation is over
Take care you will be running again before you know it 😊
What a lovely post Wenderwoo. And many ,many thanks for joining the volunteers. Bless you.
I was going to join them to feel useful alongside my wife who is returning to nursing tomorrow, my eldest son who is now a full time first responder paramedic in Canada, my middle son who is working very long days in a microbiology lab looking for a vaccine I think and my youngest son who lost his job and is now stacking supermarket shelves which was not the plan when he got his masters degree, Instead I found out today that I am most likely going back to work to produce a computer system for the government which will help people in this crisis. It should take 4-6 monhs and we have 4 weeks so I guess I will be busy and the running will take a back seat for a while.
The one good thing that’s come out of this is how amazing most people are. I clapped for the NHS workers, but also all the other people in key jobs, like the supermarket workers, care workers, etc. Thank you, and your family for everything you’re all doing 😊
Amazing that you are volunteering and finding it in you to help others Wenderwoo!
Keeping up the physical exercise is also great. Having wobbles now and then seems to be pretty normal at the moment.
I hope you keep posting , you are still one of my VRBs even if there's a temporary halt! I bet you find it really easy to start running again once this is over!
Glad to hear you are staying safe. My daughter is in isolation too and we encouraged her partner to go into isolation with her. He was able to do that because he is teaching and anyone who is vulnerable or lives with someone vulnerable is not expected to volunteer. My husband is teaching the children of key workers at the moment. We do the shopping for them and drop it off as the shops are a nightmare - dont think ive managed in and out without getting too close to someone. Its hard though, isnt it? Mother's day was a bit of a low point for me.
You've been a really great source of support to lots of folk on this programme so I'm glad you'll still be there cheering us on! It sounds like you are keeping active nontheless. Please keep in touch and let us know what you've been up to. I bet you come out of this stronger than before and you'll take the first Park Run by storm!!!!
Oh no, sorry to hear you’re in isolation. Stay safe and look after yourselves 🌶x
Well done Wenderwoo, on so many levels - for your volunteering and for keeping yourself out of the doldrums with your new interests fitness regime!
I've moved my tuition online and am enjoying keeping in touch with my pupils that way. They are all former pupils of mine, as I taught them all as their class teacher at primary school before I stepped out of the classroom a couple of years ago for a bit of a break and to spend more time with my own family. I know all the parents too and they have all been chatting over Zoom at the end of the lessons. I feel good knowing that I am helping them all in a little way and it's keeping me very busy!
How stressful for you recently with husbands absences etc. You have been such a stalwart of this community and I for one, I look forward to your updates. Well done for volunteering and I hope it gives you mental strength in this surreal situation we find ourselves in. Take each day as it comes and hopefully the sun will get stronger and the flowers will grow. Thank you for your encouragement .. yaaay 👏👏stay safe
Hi Wenderwoo, sorry to hear you're in isolation, but you're attitude is inspiring. We're all allowed an off day now and then as long as we keep our chin up most days. I seem to be doing it by eating my own body weight in hot crossed buns!
Well done too for volunteering. I was ridiculously excited this morning to do my usual shift at the food bank. I've been doing it since I retired, but I never thought it would become the highlight of my week!
Keep in touch and let us know how you're getting on.
Great to hear from you, Wenderwoo and to hear that you are doing well. Glad you are getting into activities now...the better weather did help didn't it? Good idea re volunteering. Take care. 👀👍
You're already doing your bit by staying at home and being really sensible about the whole thing! I wish everyone was like you and took this situation a bit more seriously.
I'm glad that you've managed to get yourself out of the doldrums too! 😊 Keep on posting about your indoor excersise! There's so many things online for us all to choose from and enjoy chasing your husband around the house 🤣
My business has had to close and there's a lot to sort out staff wise, but I must say I am quite enjoying my time at home everyday with my husband and son!
Ah, it is so important to keep busy during isolation and at least you can justify time spent in the forum as well - funny to think, only a month ago you were saying that you'd not be around so much! Now we need you posting your lovely positive posts! Well done for finding new ways of being positive and for volunteering as a responder - that is going to become increasingly important in the weeks to come ... ☎️☎️📱📞
Thank goodness your husband is home and clear. Mine is working from home and we are keeping strictly to working hours - plus the exercise time, apart on my running days as he has not yet fixed his bike 🚴♂️, so not able to follow me! Have a feeling a lots of trails are going to appear round those lucky enough to have gardens. 🚶♂️🚶♀️. It's going to take a bit of patience to get used to being together so much 😂🤣.
My daughter is a key worker too, being a teacher in London. Please clap the teachers, as they seem a little forgotten and are doing an amazing job, with no protection.
