I've just started the Couch to 5K. I was a little worried about running in public so I decided to start on holiday where no one knew me. It's worked out really well. Now I'm home I'm planning which days to run and I'm sticking to it. I've just complete week three and start on week 4 tomorrow. I'm running and that is a huge achievement for me.

Welcome to the forum and the program, I'm glad you are enjoying it. Just follow the program, slow and steady; focus on getting to the end of the runs, speed can come later.

Don't forget to post up your progress, the members on here are very helpful and their advice has always pointed me in the right direction.

Welcome to the family. It may not always be a perfectly smooth ride, but I encourage you to stick with it, and if it feels like too much, just slow down. It's really not a race! If you've made it to week 4 you're already doing really well. Most of all, have fun and enjoy it! Oh, and keep us all updated with how you get on :-)

Hi Lesminmin...well done for getting to week 4....you don’t mention how you’ve found the programme so far so I’m assuming it’s been ok?? If it has then that’s great & I hope it continues that way..remember though, if you have a run that you don’t quite complete then you can always repeat it & bag the stamina & Kms...keep us posted on your progress, you’ll get everything you need on here...encouragement, advice & inspiration...happy running 😉

Welcome to the forum LexMis , you've certainly come to the right place. You've done well to complete Week 3 and I can understand your anxiety about running in public. But rest assured, most people who you pass either won't notice you, or will be in awe of you for getting out there and running. Also the people you pass won't know what distance you've run, so if you're puffing and panting a bit, let them assume you're just at the end of a 5k run ( it won't be that long before you actually are). If you pass other runners you'll probably get a smile or a nod - we're generally a very friendly bunch.

Good luck for week 4, don't forget to pop back in to let us know how your runs have gone. Some people find it really motivating knowing that you're going to be sharing your highs and lows with this great big virtual running family. You'll get praise, advice, support, guidance , and if you need it (and ask for it) a kick up the behind. 😂

Happy running. 🤓

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for the encouragement :-). Here's how the previous weeks went.

Week 1 : this one was the toughest. It was hard going at first. I was out of breath but very pleased with myself when I finished all three runs. I had some great scenery in France which really helped.

Week 2 : well after the success of completing week 1 I started week 2 raring to go. Listening to the podcast and the music kept me going especially when my legs started to hurt.

Week 3 : I started this week at home returning from the success of my holiday runs. I've found a really nice route and am happy to say that running at home is also great. I passed another runner going the other way and we puffed hello at each other.

I can honestly say that although my run is little more than a jog I'm out there, I'm doing it and determined to shed the weight.
