The only problem was that from the very start of the run (probably during my 2nd/3rd minute of running) I developed a stitch which didn’t go away and had a clear impact on my pace.
I have been reading advice on how to avoid stitches so I always make sure that I don’t eat in the two hours before the run and that I drink a lot of water daily.
Does anybody have any other practical tips on stitches?

The only time that I ever had a stitch was at my first ever parkrun and slowing down and taking very deep breaths worked in seconds. Try blowing out the air to fully empty your lungs of stale air say every fourth or fifth breath and avoid shallow breathing.
