I was hoping to get another run in this week and today was the day! A fairly early drive to the lake. Eventually I’d like to run round it, but today I’m running for 30 minutes.
It was very humid today. Even if I’d run an hour earlier it wouldn’t have made much difference! It was spitting with rain at the start of my run and I was hoping it would continue - but no. I think the temperature was 19 degrees.
The location was stunning - and flat 😊. I reminded myself to take it steady - it’s about time on my feet, not pace. Although it was a humid run, it’s so good to run in such a lovely place. It was already busy there at about 7:45 a.m., dog walkers, runners, cyclists, boats and rowers on the lake. Sadly the café wasn’t open yet!
Although I took it steady for the first km, I should have slowed down more. My second km was (unusually) slightly slower than the first. No negative splits today! So I just kept going at a comfortable pace. I had turned at the halfway bell and resisted the temptation to walk a few steps at that point! Running when it’s humid really makes me tired, but I did manage to keep going!
So - my next run will see me graduate for the second time! Very happy to be running for 30 minutes again. 🥵🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️😊

Well done for keeping going even though it felt tough. Beautiful place to run too.. do you know what the distance would be if you ran all the way round? That’s a lovely target to have in mind after your next and final graduation run😊
The humidity was an absolute killer today. It just sucked all the energy out of me on my run this morning so well done for finishing that one! Looking forward to seeing your graduation post! 😀
Well done Jools, that’s awesome! It is very humid this morning 🥵 what a lovely place to run and great photo. Looking forward to your next post…GRADUATION BABY!! Again! 😉 hope you have a fab weekend 🤗💜🙏💜
Haha 😂 I love cold showers coz I get very warm real quick and don’t do well in heat!
My original goal before I started C25K was to get ripped…not bodybuilder ripped but feminine ripped 😉💪😂 that’s why I’ve got lots of weights! I’ve actually got a power cage with pulley system that I bought from Aldi online last year but need to make space for it in spare room before assembling it. I’m on a mission to get toned and make my muscles pop! 😉 my thighs are toning up nicely, just need to work on my muffin top and arms 💪 😆
Terrific - so close! Lovely place to run too. I don't often run at the weekend, but I may do something tomorrow. We were up early today for the first university visit!
Awesome Jools, running in heat and humidity, and one run to go then I wonder what you'll do next? Well done on sticking with it again, it's harder second time around at least I found that, I wanted to go off and do other runs so I do admire your discipline 😃
Thanks, Sola. Next, I will start to extend my long run, as before. Maybe do some intervals and a short run every week. As soon as I’m up to 5K I’ll go to Parkruns. I’m thinking of joining a running club, in fact I’m going to one on Tuesday to meet with one of the leaders for a 3/4K run/chat. Need some motivation to keep going and also some friends!
I’ve found the discipline not too difficult! It’s because I’m simply obeying instructions and not making any decisions 🤣.
I get that about obeying instructions, I'm similar but not so good at following a plan, my long run is tomorrow and I've been trying to choose a route, no hills tomorrow and I may Jeff it. Running club sounds like a great idea, and making new friends when things change isn't easy is it? Even harder than choosing what colour to paint the kitchen 🤣
I’ve still got all of my friends in Norfolk. But they are too far away to see day to day. I figured it’s time to try harder to meet people. I like my little house but I spend far too much time on my own.
Fortunately I don’t have to choose a colour for my kitchen! It’s mostly tiled. I’m rubbish at colours. If I had to choose I’d pick off white!
Well, I've been playing with colours and finally found the one, at the moment I'm not doing much painting but I have lots of pots of paint ready for autumn. The garden is benefitting though, first I dug and then I planted, now I'm using up my bathwater to keep them alive 🤣
I totally get needing to get out and meet people, I pretty much shut everyone out in April and may, but getting out to run helped.
Brilliant, you’re so close. Well done! You’re so right about it being distance rather than pace as that’s what makes the run more enjoyable and doable. It looks a lovely place to run - you’ll soon be running round that lake. Good luck on your last run of the programme 👏🏻
Nearly there!!! Looking forward to your graduation post and subsequent return of the Negative Split QueenI don't like to moan about this lovely weather but the heat this week has really played havoc with my running too!
Hi Jools I should have done wk9 run 3 today but I had a busy day yesterday and it was too sticky by the time I was thinking about running. Tomorrow I will graduate, like you second time through. I am old so run to heart rate, my pace goes from slow to very slow but still running. You have fabulous place to run, beats my streets.
I don’t cope well with this hot sticky weather! I’m not sure when I’m going to do my graduation run. These beautiful running routes aren’t mine- I’m away from home! On Tuesday I’ll be back and I’m joining a running club. It’s taken me ages to find one where they don’t mind my slow pace. Anyway, my first run with the running club might be my graduation run!
I do use the heart rate zones just so I’m aware. I have a quick look at my watch and slow down if I’m in Zone 5! My pace is also slow but sometimes I surprise myself.
