Week 9, Run 2

Finished run 2 and cant believe I've only 1 more to go! Still battling those voices in my head that tell me I cant do it but I've been reading a lot of advice on this forum and have so far managed to quiet them and keep going. Found the 5 minute reminders from Michael very annoying again, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes ... shut up and just let me run! I'm excited to finish, hopefully on Friday, but also a bit nervous about trying to keep it going on my own. I run in a park and the thought of venturing out into the streets is very daunting so I might just stick to what I know for a while.

You have 1 more run to go, but you have already completed 26 runs. Your inner critic says you can't and you've proven them wrong 26 times already! Hoping your last run is the most enjoyable yet.

Once it comes to running after you've graduated, what can you do to make running easier/more appealing?

Ideas may include:

- Having your running gear ready to go so you can immediately change into it and get going

- Finding a running buddy to keep you both accountable

- Setting designated times to run in your schedule

Let me know what you think would work for you! :-)

Gosh 26 runs! When you say it like that it really changes my perspective thank you for that. I'm definitely a morning runner so straight out of pyjamas and into running gear is what I do already. A running buddy might be an idea when life returns to normal. I had been doing it virtually with a friend where we'd check in after each run but she picked up an injury a few weeks ago so that stopped. Thank you for your suggestions, much appreciated:-)

No worries. It's nice to look back to see how far you've come sometimes rather than always looking ahead. Give yourself credit because you've already achieved so much!

Perfect start to the morning, love that!

Oh I see, may I ask what her injury is/was?

You're very welcome. On the flip side of my question, what do you think will make it more difficult to run by yourself once you've graduated?

She pulled a hamstring so has been resting before getting back out there. It's not do much the running alone that I think will be a challenge but more the lack of structure that the programme gives. I'm sure there are some podcasts etc that I can find though. For now my focus is on getting that final run under my belt and basking in the glory of graduation!

I see - that's sensible.

Ah I understand. If you would like any guidance in setting a structure, I'd be happy to help!

Too right - eyes on the prize!

Hi, I did my wk9 run2 this morning aswell. Never ever thought I'd get this far and really struggle and am so slow I think I'm walking at times. Still very much struggle with motivation and negativity. Determined to graduate Friday or Saturday but am having a sore hip after last 2 runs 😫. I'm sure we'll both smash it though x

Best of luck with it and I hope your hip pain eases off. I'm as slow as a tortoise too so think that contributes to my "I'm not a real runner" mentality but I'm working on that. I'm hoping to finish tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
