I have just done my second 'run'. Do I actually have to run for the 60 seconds or jog. If it's running then I am done for!
Run or jog?: I have just done my second 'run... - Couch to 5K
Run or jog?
Really, running and jogging are the same thing, OK, jogging is "slower" plodding is even slower but its all called running.
Congratulations on completing your second RUN of week 1 of C25K, onwards and upwards to run 3.
You need to run at a pace where you can hold a conversation with someone. So nice slow, then a bit slower.
There’s a guide on the forum that you need to read, I only found it after my first run (which was horrible), it’s loads better once you find the right speed for you.
I tell friends the pace I use is the next speed up from walking really fast. It looks like I’m barely doing anything but it’s not walking and gets the heart going... which I assume is the aim. I’ve just started my week 2.
There’s no definition of jogging that is universally accepted... it is running. It is usually thought of as slower running, but in that case there’s no difference between a runner and a jogger as 75%+ of everyone’s running should be at a slower, comfortable, conversational pace. This plan is different, that 75% becomes 100% as slower running is better for our development. So call it what you will, there is no such thing here as too slow... there is though a too fast! This means that you’re not done for... and that you can and will do this!
This and other things are covered in the guide to the plan, which is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Welcome to the forums, great job getting started, have a wonderful journey.
I always feel silly saying I'm going for a run cause I feel like I surely can't class it as a run! Once my partner came with me walking the dog and he walked the same speed as I "ran"! Its actually funny, but when you're doing that for 30 minutes who cares! Then you can work on getting faster!
