Hi All
Need some new trainers, called the sport shop and they are opening on Monday but not offering a recommendation service? Not sure which ones to invest in?
Can anyone help please ?

Was this a running store? I’d have thought that getting gait analysis up and running (sic) would be top priority for them if they were.
These people sportsshoes.com/gait-analysis/ offer free online analysis, then there’s the wet foot test, and also looking at the soles of your current kicks (which is easier if they’re shoes that you only run in) can help... it’s usually part of gait analysis.
Are you running on roads, pavements or other hard surfaces? If you’re trail running, gait analysis isn’t really needed as 99.9% of trail shoes are neutral... so then it’s just a case of finding the most comfortable one with the right qualities for the terrain you’re running on... here’s Runner’s worlds best trail shoes article to give you an idea what I’m talking about runnersworld.com/gear/a2211...
If you’re really in need, the most comfortable shoe in the shop is better than nothing... but I’d be reluctant to shell out £160 for a pair that I’d be replacing as soon as I could have gait analysis done.
i have rang my local running shop and they are open and doing gait analysis from monday.
i will be the first in the queue haha
so that would be my suggestion as already mentioned .
good luck
Depends on gait, comfort and budget. I love ASICS but others are good too. My friend has Hoka and said they are good but not that light. Mine are super light. There’s new ones coming out all the time. Sports brands are branching into proper performance shoes so just see what’s good for your gait, budget and comfort 😊
hi Bumblebee43
Here's a useful 1 minute video from The Endurance Physio on 'how to select a running shoe'

- no need to spend more than £60 in my opinion - simply unnecessary for a beginner. Your average specialist running shop won't have many in that price range sadly.
- set a budget and stick to it
- no real need for gait analysis
- go for comfort, not style and try lots of if you can (SportsDirect, Decathlon, DW Sports, JohnLewis are all good)
- always go for at least a half-size more than your normal shoe - you want LOTS of space around the toes - unusually so.
