I didn't know if my legs would take this run this morning, we went on another family bike ride yesterday, last week's was 6.35 miles, this weeks was only 2 miles longer.
Let me state for the record here, yes I am looking at what routes I can make up on the Garmin Connect website but I am not the one who decides which route we take.
I must admit, I don't get to cycle at a constant speed, I'm backwards and forwards making sure the 2 eldest GK's don't go off too far on their own and at times there are challenges I want to do, like pedalling up a certain hill without stopping, etc.
Anyway, running forum, sorry, given my legs were still slightly achy from yesterday I decided on a slightly slower pace, ok I tried the first 90 seconds at 7 kph but my legs were close on refusing to move, so the other 3 runs were all done at 6.5 kph. I'm not fast, I've never claimed to be, my best recorded 5k is 42 minutes.
At times my legs still seemed to baulk at the request to run but I concentrated on my breathing and tried to maximise the efficiency of my running, which is just a posh way of saying I was trying to make sure I didn't start dragging my feet or stomping on the treadmill.
I could have just taken some of the incline off and do it on a flat surface but that really wouldn't have helped in the long run, no pun intended there.
I did a week of Week 3 runs in April as a fitness tester and just to start getting back into it and today's run was further with a lower average heart rate.
My diet is still kind of all over, it's no where near as strict as last year's, I've gained a couple of pounds, that could be water as I'm drinking a lot with both the running and cycling but since both of my chosen activities use the legs I wouldn't be surprised if that starts to be a factor shortly.
Solo bike ride tomorrow, same route as yesterday, with run 2 on Wednesday. My solo rides are in the mornings, pre-work so I have longer to recover so I should be ok.
While I love the cycling, it's still not the same as the running, running is me time.
Happy running everyone.
