Week 7 Complete - runs abit boring!

Hi,

I’ve just completed week 7! I’ve noticed I enjoyed the runs with breaks and different timings better. I have tried running in new locations but realised I actually don’t run as well... it’s much harder and it’s possibly because the new locations aren’t in my comfort zone and I’ve been running in my local park since week 1. Any tips? I’ve even made a new playlist to help change things up! The long runs feel abit boring.

Have you given podcasts a try? I find that is a good distraction

I have been researching interesting podcasts in advance of my run tomorrow, so hopefully that makes a difference!

I know what you mean about those longer runs later in the programme. Are you still using the coach on the app? If so, it isn't compulsory, you could maybe just set a timer and run. For me, the slight boredom morphed into 'mindfulness' and so I was no longer bored, but zoned out and experienced every part of the run. Perhaps that happens naturally the more runs you do. Keep at it, perhaps do put yourself out of your comfort zone in terms of routes, which may make it more interesting

Yes I was still using the app the Couch to 5k app, however tomorrow I will try using a running timing app instead - thanks for your suggestion

Try a comedy podcast.

Compose a shopping list...........or a symphony.

Give yourself a running commentary of all you can see, hear, smell and feel as you run.

Identify every bird/tree/ wildflower species you see.

Anything............but don't think about time or running.
