Today was the first day of week five. I felt good going in having completed week 4 when I was sure I would struggle but managed well.

Today I managed as well with enough left in the tank to stretch my pace for the last 30seconds.

Looking forward to the rest of the week with some apprehension with the dreaded 20 minute run on Friday.

I did the 20 minute run this morning. I too was worried about it but this programme has prepared me well. If you’ve done the runs so far you will be able to do 20 minutes. Well done!

Chicken1966 we are on the same week! I also done week 5 run 1 this morning and am also apprehensive about Fridays 20 mins! Have found great excitement and achievement so far as each week has progressed so know I am going to be delighted if I can manage to pull off Fridays run. Hoping that will get me through it! Good luck with the rest of the week!

Its good to “meet” someone at the same point as I am at. I am looking forward to Friday but at the same time apprehensive but as others have said if you follow the plan and trust it it all will be well. That’s been the case so far so currently feel fairly confident. Let me know how you get kn Wednesday and Friday?

That's what I have told myself also, that it is a well established plan that many have ran before us so they should know what they are talking about. And it has gotten me this far which I really didn't think it could. Yes will do... You also! Look forward to hearing how u get on.

Week6r2. Completed this morning didn’t find it too difficult. I’d read on here that it can catch people out but wasn’t too bad at all. Although I was lucky in that the second recovery walk started at the bottom of one of the long steady inclines and finished fairly close to the end, I think that helped mu legs usually feel heavy on that bit.

Hope you’ve smashed it too this morning? Did think about just messaging but though I’d out it here as didn’t want to annoy.

Morning! Just back from my run, completed it but found it tough enough. Wore different trainers maybe that's why not sure... My legs felt like lead, I felt like stopping but I didn't I kept going until the end. Was Quite warm out this morning too... Anyway.... I completed it and feel great for it now! Glad u had a good run yesterday! Onto the next 😁

Run 2 I found tough today extra heat and a tight calf but I got through it and covering more distance this week as well.

Going to monitor a little niggle in my calf and my left knee and consider an extra rest day but will see how I am on Thursday. Hope your run goes well good luck with it.

Run 2 complete, found it a lot easier than run 1! Less heat for my run this morning too so could have made a difference... Hard to believe we are now heading for the last run of week 6! Never thought I would have gotten here!

I know had a look ahead the shortest run between now and the end is 25 minutes! I think this means that we are actually runners now!

I said the same thing to my friend this morning lol. No more breaks must mean I'm a runner! Slightly nervous about the no breaks but I suppose it will get easier over the next few weeks just like the weeks so far.

I guess so. I am a bit nervous as my knee has chosen now to complain but I am up for the challenge. At least with the longer tuns I should be closer to home when I get to the end of the run 😀

Decided to try the knee this morning and all was good! 25 in the bag found the last minute tough as the last 3 or so are now up a hill... happy days. Pleased though that I completed it good luck with yours hope it goes as well as mine 👍 🏃‍♀️

Don´t stress about W5R3 - it is to be embraced and enjoyed. It´s not a physical challenge because your body will be ready for it - that´s what the preceding 14 runs and 157 minutes of running were for. Your fitness has accumulated to the extent that you´ll be absolutely fine , as long as you go nice and easy. It´s just that the head isn´t quite ready - it says no.

You´ll be great.

Do it.

I did run 1 wk 5 this morning, struggled a little on the last run to stay going but I managed it, think run 2 will be fine but nervous about the Friday 20 minute run, have managed them all to date but started getting shin splints last week so went back to running on grass and it has been better, dreading 20 min run as I really don't want to "fail" but can't see me doing 20 if the 5 minute left me puffed

I’m sure we will get through it... Wednesday i think will be ok and if i thought about it in isolation 8 minutes seems like a long time. Fridays 20 minutes looming up kinda makes me forget about 8 minute runs.

The last one was tough for sure my legs felt heavy but was determined to keep them moving.

My concern is my legs feel heavy and tired on the first run no matter the length. Then in the “get your breath back walk”, again no matter how short, I can feel my legs relaxing and warming. Im worried that on the 20 minute walk i may not get that respite in my legs and therefore struggle.

Please let me know how you get on and I will do the same... good luck I’m sure we will do it!

Well this morning was...ok. At the end of the first 8minutes I felt good and congratulated myself that in week one I ran for the sam amount of time for the whole thing. Then realised I had to do it again which again was ok.

The second 8 minutes was harder think i was barely moving forward but I made

It to the end. It was high humidity outside this morning which definitely sapped strength from me, hope it’s cooler on Friday. I do know that I was running at conversation pace though, because when Sarah said 60seconds left I managed to say “ Thank f for that!”

How did you guys get on today?

Blue_runner profile image

Chicken1966 I was the exact same this morning! 1st 8 min run was fine but 2nd my legs felt like they had bags of potatoes attached to them! I slowed way down, think I was barely running, not sure how Fridays going to go... I will be so disappointed in myself if I have to stop! Was thinking on this mornings run should I repeat week 5....

Chicken1966 profile image
Chicken1966Graduate in reply toBlue_runner

Well done for getting through today... repeat if you want but I feel that I am only going to repeat days that I don’t complete.

When you think about it week one felt just as hard on the last 60 seconds and today we ran for twice as long.

Good luck for Friday.

Very true!! Will see how I go Friday and take it from there

Well thank heavens for a cooler morning, still humid but nowhere on a par with Wednesday.

So anyway I made it was surprised how the first 15 minutes went well with just the odd niggle to mKe me doubt if I would make it. The last 4 minutes were hard, they come on a stretch of my route that has a number of short steady inclines which didn’t help. But I did it ... hope your run goes well and you can share a similar story!

Good luck!

I did it!!!! It shocked me that it wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be! I tried not to focus on the time and instead getting to a certain point in my route that I thought was my 20 min mark so it took the pressure of me a bit I think. Ive realised that it doesn't matter how long I run for, it's when I know it's coming to an end I start to find it tough.... I find the last few mins of an 8 minute run just as hard as the last few mins of a 20 minute run. Congratulations on today! Now onto week 6 🙃

Congratulations it is amazing how this programme seems to work!

Keep updating through week 6?

Blue_runner profile image

It really is! I've always wanted to run but was always put off as I thought it was going to be harder than it is. I would recommend the program to anyone! Yes! Look forward to hearing how u get on. God luck!

You could try a 90 second run as the first run then walk then go into the 20 minute run..might help to warm your legs up...I strangely can see the 8 minutes as no problem, but the 20 I am laughing thinking about it and may have to attempt that one more than once before I get there but will let you know how that goes on Friday. Good luck
