First run of week 5 tomorrow I’m really afraid I won’t be able to do it.

I can categorically say that if you have followed the programme and have not had any problems up to this point you WILL be able to do it! Every run you do prepares you for the next. It works! I’m just about to start week 9. You are starting to get to the stage where it is mind over matter- you CAN do this! My advice - take it slowly, it’s about stamina not speed. You’ve got this! Enjoy and let us know how you get on.

Hi thank you so much I have completed the all the runs so far and week 4 was good. But I think I’ve been expecting to fail so tomorrow’s run seems daunting right now.

Don’t let the negative gremlins get in your head - they’re annoying little b*ggers who need zapping straight away- I expect a report to hear how much you enjoyed yourself on tomorrow’s run! 😊

W5R1 also for me tomorrow and I agree with Swettyhettie that I think it’s as much mental attitude at this stage as physical. Take it easy and I’m sure you will smash it. Good luck

The programme works! Just don't panic when you run. Focus, breathe and listen to a good jam! You'll be fine ☺️

Don't fear what you don't know.

And until you get out there and do it, you won't know.

Mentally prepare yourself for it. Get yourself in a good place.

The first 5 to 10 minutes are often the hardest. Expect that and prepare to have to push yourself through it.

Start slow. Really slow. Remember, its not a race. If you have energy left at the end, you can always kick it up then.

As has been said already, if you have got this far, then you're ready for it. At least, your body is. Sometimes we just have to work a little harder to get the mind to catch up 😉.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on. We're all here for you

Also in the pinned posts IannodeTruffe has a great one about having a positive mind set, think it’s called “Positive...Negative” or similar.😊 Sorry I’m not very techy or I’d have added the link here for you! 😊

Look at your progress to date........... why would you not do the next run?

Read this and relax healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

You can do this.

Just completed it. Honestly I was very worried about the steep from 8 mins to 20. Turns out its fine. Just a steady pace and a good music selection, it breaks the run into 3-4 sections. I even pushed the pace at the end to get out of breath. I'm truly surprised. You'll be fine. I'm now not worried about next week at all! Just stick with it 👍

I am new on here and also facing W5R1 tomorrow 😬. I share your nerves but we have gotten this far so I’m sure we’ll get through!

Same for me tomorrow too. We have come this far already so we can definitely do this!!

For me it's all about getting your body used to running - it's not about speed or distance. Let'stake it slow and steady and I am sure we will be fine.

It’s fighting the demons in your mind. Just list all your achievements in other parts of your life and off you go!!!

I'm not being funny when I say that EVERY week had me convinced I had reached my limit :)

However, the programme does work :) For a lot of us notbin eight weeks or with a 30 minute 5k....but I promise you, if you follow it to the best of your ability you WILL graduate :)

Wishing you many happy miles in your future :)

Oh don’t be afraid! It’s a nice run, just get in a nice positive head space and enjoy it 😀

I hope you got on ok. I did it this morning and actually enjoyed it! I suppose it’s natural to be nervous, particularly as W5 is that transition to longer chunks of running. Anyway I’m keeping my fingers crossed for all of us in W5!
