I ended up repeating week 4 but managed now to complete it 3 times successfully - any words of wisdom for next week please? I'm sure it has been answered 1000 times but can I really run for 20 mins?? I've been struggling to do 5 mins! ๐ฎ
Week 5 nerves: I ended up repeating week 4 but... - Couch to 5K
Week 5 nerves
Of course you can! You will be ready by run 3. Don't let your gremlins get the better of you ๐
Most of us felt the same way about this run. In fact when I first read about it I thought it was a mistake! But magically, the programme has prepared you for it through each and every run and rest days. You are a runner and you can run for 20 minutes. Just run very, very slowly, think positive thoughts and imagine yourself finishing and then come here and tell us all about how epic you feel ๐
Thank you ๐ I really hope I do it. I know how awesome it will feel to be able to!! I think most of the battle is mental and if I keep telling myself I can I will. Keep your fingers crossed for me x
Yip. This is now a mental challenge because your body is ready for it. These past 4 weeks (plus 5/1 & 5/2) have seen to that.
You are ready. Go and smash it.
If you have repeated Week 4 three times.. you will complete the next week easily and gently and in a relaxed way
It is those pesky gremlins who try to tell you that you cannot do it. Well you can... as her majesty says, the programme has brought you slowly and steadily to this point.
Trust it and have confidence in your ability... you are strong.
Squish those gremlins with every slow and steady step!
I was exactly the same, I really genuinely thought I would have to give up at that point! I was completely shocked when I actually managed it fairly easily. What I did that first time was walk away from home for as far as I thought 20 minutes run would be, then turned and ran home (plus the warm down of course) I think that helped motivate me to keep going! I think you will find that you will get a second wind and it will be fine. I am the least unlikely person to run you could imagine (the user name's a clue lol) but I am running and once the longer runs began I have begun to love it. (I have now completed week 7!) Trust this amazing programme and don't forget to keep it slow, you really, really can do this! Waiting to hear how you did!
If you want to get to the end of the programme, move on.
If you don't complete any of those W5 runs then you do as you did with W4, you repeat them.
Don't anticipate that you will not be able to do this. Be positive, believe in yourself and read all the other posts about the same subject. Tens of thousands of graduates have completed these runs.......what is so different about you?
You can do it.
Great advice from all of you. Thank you so much. I posted on here when I struggled with week 4 and your words of wisdom helped me through it. I just needed to get some reassurance from you again and you have provided me with that so I can't thank you enough. I have run 1 and 2 to do first but I will post back here after run 3 and let you all know how I did! Thank you all you're amazing and your support means the world ๐๐๐
Hi There. I'm same as you. One more run on wk 4 then wk 5. Cant believe I could run 20 mins.. but hey, lets give it a try! We might just surprise ourselves! Let me know how you get on
Don't overthink it. Trust in the programme and you won't be disappointed ๐
Just to keep you all informed. Week 5 runs 1 & 2 completed not easy but did it!! Big one on Thursday ๐ฎ๐ฎx
I'm loving proof you will be ready! Lol. In your head when you do 20mins, break it down into chunks of 5 - mind over matter - it works ๐
When you complete it I hope you think like I did, what was all the fuss about? Good luck ๐
I did it!!! Not going to lie it was hard, and I was slow but I ran for 20 mins continuously!!! Thank you for all your words of support!!xx
I'm at the same place - didn't repeat the whole of week 4 but did an extra run to make sure I am definitely ok with the 5 mins - I think I'm just there. Week 5 does seem like a big step up but I guess all we can do is just go for it!!
