Week 7 Run 1

Where’s the sun gone? Felt like winter! No likey!

Pace wasn’t too bad, but I didn’t feel in my comfort zone, today! Ran in different socks! I’ll blame them! Stayed dry again, though! 👍

Well done. It’s looking chilly here too for my run tomorrow. I’ll make sure I wear the same socks though, just in case. I’ve bought new trainers online and haven’t worn them outside yet, just in the house in case they aren’t comfortable running. Sticking with my 11 year old trainers that I bought for a moonwalk in 2009!!

Hi, it’s supposed to be a bit warmer tomorrow, up here, according to the forecast! Strange one today, my feet definitely felt different! If your old trainers work, deffo stick with them if your confident in them! Good luck with your run!

I’m too scared to wear the new trainers in case it disrupts my progress. I only bought them (in a sale) because I had read several posts saying that proper running shoes make a big difference. But kill hold off trying them out

Socks can make a huge difference. Technically the weather today is more suitable for distance running than the heat we had last week, but it takes some adjusting too! Great job out there today.

Thank you! I soon warmed up, tbh! Being quite new to running, I suppose I’ll work out what works, regarding clothing & layers & unlucky socks! I’m sure as I hopefully progress, some runs won’t always feel great.........still blaming the socks, though! 😂

Could well be the socks... I was pretty shocked the first time I ran in socks designed for running just how much different they made the run feel.

With layers etc, they say to dress for 10 degrees C cooler than the current temperature. I can’t quite work that one out, as I still work in Fahrenheit, but today here is 48F which once running would feel like walking in the mid 60s

I cycle to work all year round, have for a few years! I quite often get the layers wrong then, too! More so in winter! As long as my hands & ears are warm, I can cope with the rest!

I’m pretty much the same there... I wear gloves that keep my hands dry and are good at mopping sweat off my head in the heat, but they have a pull down/over bit that turns them into cold weather running mitts... often start with them as mitts and fold them up about 5 minutes in.

Pesky socks! But you only have to watch Rafael Nadal on a tennis court to see the difference the right routines - some would say superstitions - can make to success, even if only in our minds eg making sure his water bottles are all in a straight line with their labels facing forwards, never treading on any of the court lines between points, always tucking his hair behind his ears before he serves 😂. If keeping things the same works for him then I think it’s good enough for the rest of us. Well done, and on to the next run, getting close to the finish line now 🏃‍♂️

Hi, today just didn’t feel right! Pace was ok, but my feet just felt heavy! I didn’t have the second wind towards the end of the run that I have been getting! Maybe I’ll take my tennis racket, next time! 😂 My knees were aching a bit, today! Had to go out for a blast on the bike, it’s definitely helped! How was your run! Hope you smashed it!
