Any advice for people with knee problems and flat foot.... please?
Used to enjoy running.... but I find that I am worried about my knees and possible damage from running. Did have knee problems in the past. I had surgery previously on my left knee...
Thanks

Sorry no advice but interested as I also have flat feet and stopped doing this 2 years ago at W4 due to my knees giving up. Hope you get some replies. I know I'm crap at remembering to stretch before and after and reckon that doesn't help at all. This time round my legs are much stronger as I've been going to the gym, so 🤞.
My issue is.... it is just intuitive that.. the legs/ knees are meant to do just so much in a lifetime... before they need replacing....😀... ! So i worry about that...
You’re right as the outcome does depend on a number of factors including the amount of irreversible damage already done. Hope you had good advice about the physio exercises you needed with the orthotics.
I have very flat feet and did the brooks running shoe selector on their website. I had pain on the inside of both knees and thought that I would have to give up at around week 2 as it was getting worse. I wore a support on the worst one. The new shoes must have really helped as the pain has gone!!!!! They are brooks transcend- got a half size bigger. Did the week 6 run 3 today which is 25 mins and had no pain. Can’t believe it!!
You need shoes with a low drop for knee issues. Hoka fixed me over night. Don’t get brooks - they have a high drop. Google knee pain and low drop shoes.
Sorry to hear this. This is why I am a bit weary of taking up running..... with bad knees.... especially things like 5k run... do run once or twice a week.... and cover about 2-3 miles... each run....& would be glad for any advice on footwear...
Hoka do 30 day money back if you don’t like them. If you over pronate, try gaviota but size up. Send your brooks back for a full refund within 90 days.
Yes I think I will. The ones I have from brooks are for over pronation and are cushioned- the pain is on the inside of my knee and probably due to a very tight hamstring in that leg. Other leg is fine😂 I think I will try some hamstring and knee exercises, whatever!! Looked up the Hoka shoes- they look very nice!! Thanks again X
