I am starting (again) the Couch to 5K on Monday. Feeling extremely nervous as I am not a runner at all and I really struggle with motivation. Especially as my partner is not a runner and will not even entertain the idea of doing it with me.
Has anyone got any tips on how I can actually get past the second day on my second chance.
TIA x

Maybe map out running goals in ur diary and put the weekly runs in so that you make a priority out of them. Enjoy the progress and sense of achievement and keep posting so we can all cheer u on! And keep it really SLOW!!!
I’ve been for my first run today... I work 9-5 and have a toddler and like you I know I won’t get up early to do it! I am the most self conscious person in the world (I turned around and ran the opposite direction because I didn’t want to pass someone on a horse in case they judged me haha!) and my partner prefers bike rides so I was alone too.
I found it difficult, I didn’t realise how long a minute is! I naively thought that one minute would be easy. I will be honest and say I didn’t enjoy it while I was doing it, but the rush I felt when I came home knowing I’d completed it was amazing. Especially as everyone told me I wouldn’t even go. I think it’s just perseverance as I can see how it would become enjoyable.
Good running trainers are apparently the only thing needed other than a lot of will power. Once you’re out your front door you’ve accomplished something right there and then.
The beauty of c25k is its built for non runners to get moving.
I used to run but using this to get back in after a good few years out.
Its hard if your not motivated by others around you but if your starting let the motivation come from within find something that motivates you if that helps playlist, podcast. Just find some self belief. Its much easier than you think.
Try a smart watch or strava etc to track your own progress. Beating your own times is motivating in itself.
It's great that you're giving this another go! Once you get out on Monday the rest will fall into place. Also, keep posting as everyone here is super supportive and motivating. You got this!
