Had my last run on Monday so had a couple of rest days before setting out on my runs today. Rest days included going out for a daily walk plus strength and flex and some work with dumbbells.

The first part of my run was along a lane. My 5 minute warm up walk takes me to the highest point where I start my run. I was overtaken by a lad in his late teens who covered the ground like a gazelle. Next time I saw him was at the end of the lane where it enters the next village. He was bent over, hands on knees, recovering. I nodded to him and continued at my steady plodding pace.

The next section of my route is a long steady climb out of the village to the highest point on my route. Then it's a free wheel all the way back home.

I am now looking forward to a longer run on Saturday, when hopefully it will be a bit cooler than today.

You are keeping on and running regularly. I ran today and hadn't since Sunday as I needed a few extra rest days. I hope you settle in to your long run. Enjoy it. You've earned it.
