Today's run was an emotional little number. Rugby-boy's bestie arrived at the airport yesterday for a week's stay, and this morning we were all up at six-thirty to get out for a run. RBB, aka Road Runner, is a pro - when I say 'pro', this 15-year-old runs a sub-three minute km. He slowed down today to accommodate Rugby-boys "slow" pace, and they disappeared into the horizon, side by side. Thirteen years ago they met on the landing separating their two abodes, and they have been inseparable ever since. Their friendship has been strengthened by the distance since we moved 800km to the South five years ago. The beauty of it all rose up in my throat and got tangled up with the feeling of happiness from being healthy and running in such beautiful scenery, and that was it... I didn't just have a lump in my throat, I felt like I'd tried to swallow my trainers. On arrival at the end of my run, Kermit announced 5.08 km in 32.28 minutes. We're getting there! Count those blessings, guys. We always tend to see what we don't have rather than concentrate on the fantastic stuff we take for granted every day.

Couch to 5K
I wouldn't be trying to keep up with that friend - the pre-war women's WR for 1k was just over 3mins! He's fast!
Sounds like you had another lovely, if slightly emotional, run. 32.28 isn't a bad time, either - that's around 10 min mile, which is genuine running pace. It's nice to feel a little bit fit & strong again isn't it!
Woo Hoo Well done M ! That is positively flying that is , Go you , Yay !
Pass the tissues you soppy s*d ,
* Snort, sniff * xxx
Aww fab post mfam. I was getting a bit choked myself there.
You are spot on we sometimes need to step back & count our blessings.
As for that run. Bleedin hell woman. Did you strap rockets to the Purple Perils this morning? What a fab time! (Shakes pom poms madly!!)😊😊😊x
It's one of my mantras - 'never forget the priceless things that cost nothing'. Cheesy but true. I've ove the idea of rockets on my Purple Perils. In fact I think I've just adapted to the temperature a bit better. I like your pompoms. I want to swap - mine are getting a bit thin now with all the finishing line activity I've been up to on this forum.
see my post on ' tortoises'!!
A nice reminder about mindfulness, thanks!
