W4, R2.....aches and pains!

I have just completed week 4, run 2 and I am so pleased with myself! In week 1 I didn't imagine being able to run in 5 minute stints so to achieve it is just so rewarding! I seem to be able to manage my pace and breathing well but the only thing bothering me is aches in my right leg! It moves around from my shin, to my calf and sometimes my thigh. Any ideas? It seems odd to only be on one side!

When you run are you running on your toes or heel to toe.

Could be shin splint you can avoid it by using your hole foot heel to toe. Also helps protect your knees

Hi, thank you for replying. That's a good question! I'm not really sure and I haven't thought about it before! I will have to take more notice next time I run.

The guide to the plan has advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Many of us are asymmetrical and sometimes this needs to be corrected with orthotics in shoes, but it is probably too early to be sure about that.
