Finally did my 1st run following Graduation πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Managed well but only got about 3hours sleep due to aching legs.( Did go for 2 walks as well due to lovely sunshine 🌞 and obviously over did it!! )

Always ache a few hours after a run 😟 any suggestions to reduce this??

Also is there a pod that tracks your miles as well as does pace to the beat ?

Thank you guys xx

Do you stretch well after your runs?😊

I always do the 5minute walk to cool down. Should I do more?

Try stretching afterwards, only when the muscles are warm..see the link.. let us know how it goes..😊

As general rule you should be doing a set of warm-up exercises and cool down exercises including stretching for any exercise.πŸ‘

For the C25k running programme the minimum requirement is , as you say , 5 min brisk walk, get your heart pumping, and 5 min warm down.πŸ‘

That is not enough for you, as you should not be experiencing this level of displeasure following graduation.πŸ€”

Providing you are happy with all

your preparation on hydration , nuitrition ,sleep, etc, and your repair day programme,

If you are not stretching following your run, you must start to gently introduce that and should have been doing this from the start really.πŸ€”

Do not worry, the links are available under the FAQ Posts.πŸ€”

Gently to start with, and maybe start at 10 seconds and build to 20 seconds, for each movement.

I use my own from other sources pre joining the forum. Both warm up and stretching and warm down and stretching in addition to the walks.

Someone recently posted,

some pre stretching exercises that were excellent and fly in the face of the learned theory on pre stretching.

If you do pre stretching do them more gently and for half the time that you do the post stretching exercises.

Good luck, but you should not be having this experience and also a quick recovery.πŸŒŸπŸ‘πŸ‘

Hope this helps you.πŸ€”

Thank you. Didn’t think this was right and from what you and Dave say it’s down to my post run stretching ( or lack of it!!)

I have been so focused on completing my 30 min πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ and Graduating I seem to have forgotten stretching πŸ™„!!

I am neither a medic nor a qualified fitness advisor.

I have told you what I have been advised and practised for years.

In my much younger days and after days in the mountains I have never experienced what you are reporting.πŸ€”

In my mid seventies and a novice runner, I have never experienced

what you are reporting, this will help, and any fitness advisor would agree.πŸ€”

It is very basic to all exercise to develop your muscles and assist recovery.πŸ€” muscles are for using and treating kindly.πŸ€”

Do not know your story, but if you are a gym member eg. you could chat through with the staff who may identify other opportunities in your exercise regime.πŸ€”πŸŒŸπŸ‘πŸ‘

Thank you. I am very new x Graduated last week πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Stretching seems to be the key πŸ”‘ fingers crossed 🀞

I am only a couple of weeks before you.πŸ‘

Avoid medication or certainly minimise it, that is not the way forward.πŸ™ˆ

Do not simply demand your muscles to perform from a cold start.πŸ€”

The reason you stretch them when they are warm, not cold, is you actually lengthen them and further strengthen them.πŸ€”

Taking medication does not help you listen to your body and you maybe just injure yourself.πŸ€”

Different situation, but read Mr Runs situation in the FAQ Posts.πŸ€”

I bought a roller massage as I get really tight calves, best thing I ever bought my muscles are all loose now. I also stretch after my runs which helps.

Off Amazon it was about a tenner but so worth it. I won't lie it can be painful to use but after it feels so much better.
