Well, after saying nothing was going to stop me running yesterday.. it literally poured down here cats and dogs and frankly, no! I saw the weather was sunny next day so dutifully I donned the gear and off I went this morning.. First run, as always lumpy and I'm thinking, I must be getting fitter surely? Rest for 90, then the 5-minuter, which was absolutely fine.. so weird that the 2nd run is always so much better. Last one was, and always has been, more difficult at the last minute mark but I kept going to the end... so relieved to hear Jo say "You've done it!".. So happy to hear her lovely friendly voice.

Annoyingly my garmin (on loan to me but has got me into this pickle!) couldn't pick up a GPS signal so my run didn't record on My Fitness Pal or Strava.. Oh well, I did the run and that's the main thing... happy days.

Tomorrow I'm off to Scotland for a few days with my teenage son to explore the Hebrides for the first time; I am hopeful to run by the side of a loch and am taking my gear ... I shall keep you posted and hopefully have a photo or two to share!!

Happy running folks!

I thought just the same yesterday, so I too went out early today🏃.

The Hebrides sounds amazing, I'm sure it will be fabulous to run there.

Look forward to seeing some photos. 🌈😊🌞

Going to the linked isles of Harris and Lewis or one of the more southerly islands?

I had a week staying in Tarbert on Harris back in 2013. The crossing from Ullapool to Stornoway was as rough as could be, the waves washing the upper deck windows. A week later, the crossing back from Tarbert to Uig on Skye was as flat as a billiard table.

Thanks.. off to the Inner Hebrides, Glasgow to Oban, via Loch Lomand then days out to Mull (Ferry with car) and Iona (on foot); Fort William and Ben Nevis (lowland!) and a boat trip (worried about being sea sick!!) to see seals, otters, eagles and whatever else.. if we see any of the aforementioned, I will be over the moon!

Weather looks a bit mixed but you don't go to Hebrides for the sun.. I have my trusty waterproof!

I've distant photos of seals basking round the Western Isles. It's very likely you'll see some too at this time of year.

And on Mull, if you've got a kid with you, a trip to Balamory, sorry, Tobermory is essential.

Yes we are off there for sure! 👍

ps I guess there's always a reason Stornaway is featured heavily on the shipping forecasts! 🤮

I've had worse! It can be really bad on the overnight boat trip from Aberdeen to Lerwick (Shetland), where you have to strap yourself into your bunk.

Sooo jealous you’re off to The Hebrides, have a wonderful time!

I considered taking running gear up to the North York Moors over the last few days but decided rambling over the hills would be plenty of exercise in itself.

If you’re a gin girl be sure to try some Harris Gin! We’ll look forward to photos :)

Ah excellent.. hiking over the moors is just as good as running.. and better than my speed of running (slow jogging!) 😂

Good tip on the gin.. I am, and I will, thanks!!

Will take photos defo!

Ps Cc I’ve put ‘keep on running’ onto my running play list... I know, super cheesy but I did grin when it came on! 🏃‍♀️

Well done 👏👏👏

So jealous of your trip to the islands - you’ll have a fab time.

I’ve said it before but it’s weird what music motivates ... not necessarily anything you would listen to ordinarily I find 😉

My latest inspiring tracks are Blasts from the Past ... Run, Run, Run (Jo Jo Gunne) and I Love to Boogie (TRex) although I started this morning with the latter which in hindsight was a tad too fast if I ran to the beat 😂

Oh yes I love to boogie.. perfect! I’m putting that on my playlist, thanks for the insight!
