Did week 3 run 1 yesterday evening, it was HARD. The running (very slow) wasn’t a problem but I really struggled with my breathing. I am trying not to pant, or breathe too deeply, but I’m struggling. I can’t slow down any more or I’d stop 😂

I think it takes a while before we find a natural rhythm so don't worry. There's lots of advice around on breathing but I find in and out through my nose to begin with really helps as it controls my pace.

Well done, you did it.

The secret of breathing is pacing. You need to breathe deeply and fully, not gasp.

You say you can't slow down more, but honestly, you can.

If you cannot speak clear ungasping sentences as yo run then you are going too fast.

There is advice on breathing in the guide to the plan.........basically do what comes naturally.

I found the breathing hard to begin with and even sometimes now as I suffer with pollen allergies and my nose stuffs up so I can’t breathe in and out of nose like I should. It does get better though- don’t worry too much about breathing a particular way it will settle itself in the end .

If elderly couples and their dogs aren’t passing you, then you can definitely slow down more. I am much younger than my neighbor, and he routinely passed me when I ran. Yes it hurt my pride, then I got over it because I was finally going to get fit, slowly.

Thanks, I will try to slow down even more, although at the moment I am not really even running, more ‘walking with a bounce’! 🤣
