W3R1 - proof of how much you have taught me

I remember this run well from last time - I should, I did it often enough. This was my learning week and the lesson was "How to run slowly". I thought I was running painfully, embarrassingly slowly but it wasn't slow enough. I learned to shorten my stride - one foot in front of the other and nothing betweent them; and I learned to slow the steps further and further until I could complete the run. It took a few fails until I achieved success.

So, I was very conscious of this as I left home in the still-nearly-dark this morning. I also knew that I had done it before and could do it again - what's a seven year gap between friends?

And, friends, I did it. Two lots of three minutes plus the two lots of ninety seconds. And little in the tank for a faster finish.

Someone asked the other day about repeating runs - this was the week where I did that a lot and, though I know the "trust the programme" mantra, I don't regret repeating those then. It got me through without injury or quitting. And it taught me how to pace myself and that has stayed with me.

Good luck, everyone, with your run today. You cAn do it.

Well done, you did it 😁The most important thing is to stay safe and injury free and you're handling this just right.

Good luck 😁

Well done!! I'm in a very similar position, just finished this same run today and it's my second time round after graduating 5 years ago. Definitely easier this time around and I'm trying to think positive, just proud I finish each run and not put any thought into speed or distance. Keep going! I'll be following your journey ☺️

Hi Sheps, I am also back after 4 and a bit years, last night was run 2 of week 3, must admit the 3 min run had me scared a bit, not worried but a bit nervous, I am definitely running a fair bit slower than last time I did this but want to build the stamina. The memory from last time is helping me too, I would recommend highly anyone else who has done it or partially done it before to restart. I look forward to your progress, and good luck, we can both do this!😀

What a lovely post! It’s okay to be very, very slow and it can still be very enjoyable especially for an oldie like me. I’m redoing the programme too and just started on week 5 yesterday. Feeling very much inspired by your words. Thank you and happy running.
