Gearing myself up for W1R1

Ok so I’ve done C25K before (years ago!) up to week 6 - but it was all in the gym on a treadmill. My current base fitness is zero so starting again and today is the day!

What I’m worried about is - what do I do about a drink?? I’m remember before that as soon as Laura said I could walk again I was always gasping for my water bottle, but don’t particularly want to be carrying around a huge bottle of water while I’m trying to run.. do I just need to suck it up and carry it and see it as an extra arm workout?? 😂 or do people cope fine without?

Welcome 🙏🏾. If you drink enough fluid during the day you don’t need to carry water with you. If you go for run now and your in the UK it quite cool at the moment. But later on in the day when it starts to really warm up it maybe different. Have a good run/jog where you are. And keep safe.

Hi I'mon W1 and doing R3 tomorrow I'm finding the sensible advice and really helpful links from Ion Administrator the best help I need. I'm making sure I've drank a good amount of water every day anyway and then don't find I need to bring it with me, but I am also running slow to avoid injury and have started the knee exercises recommended to strengthen the legs/knees

I’m back - I did it! Thanks for the advice!

The first 2 segments of running I was like “oh this is easy, maybe I should’ve started on a later run...”, by the 4th segment of running I was absolutely shattered 😂 feel so good now though!

Have a good day everyone!

Hi. I'm on W1R3 at moment.

Had the same worry when I started.

Didn't want to be without water but also didn't want to carry a lot of stuff with me too.

Anyway I've done it without water and been OK. Just had a good glass of water when I get home.

I do run at about 8am also so it's not too hot outside.

All the best. 😊

I think you'll be fine without water for the early runs in the programme, as long as you're well hydrated beforehand. Good luck!
