I'm now planning on hopping on my unused exercise bike on my off running days to help improve my cardiovascular fitness. Are there any tips out there in doing this, or should I just plod away for say 30 minutes?
For info - I'm up to Week 8 in C25K.

I dusted off my exercise bike yesterday - didn't use it though 😏.
I was going to do high intensity interval training. Two minutes as fast as I can go. 30 seconds rest etc. I think that's how to get the best bang for your buck cardio wise. Either that, or adjust the gradient up.
To be honest, I found it mind numbingly boring, which is why I started running in the first place. I really will get round to it 🤞.
Cycling is great cross training... but don’t jump on that exercise bike for four hours at a time straight away 🤣. We generally advise that people do what they are used to doing, so if you’ve not done it for a while, start short and build slowly... in a similar fashion to C25K itself.
Me too... I was like that with the treadmill... 5 minutes was the longest I could do for a long time... then I smashed through that mental barrier and upped it to the 2 hours I could run outside. Takes a lot of dedication to put all that effort in to go nowhere 🤣. I find a good podcast really helps with that side of things.
Top tip to fend off boredom on the bike: a YouTuber I follow, and who makes a virtue out of being somewhat tubby, posts very motivating videos and has just started posting static cycling ones, which are just forward facing films of various routes he does. It's a helluva lot cheaper than Zwift! Here's a link: youtube.com/watch?v=Pe9iw0A...
To ease myself into this with the Exercise Bike, I've just done 3K (est) as I don't know what impact it will have on tomorrow's run. Hopefully none, and if that's the case I'll have a longer sesh on Thursday.
I'm liking the new me with this fitness drive. My wife thinks it's a midlife crisis. Lol
