Afternoon all... Aussie here checking in before you all run away from me!

I noticed a medal waiting for me - thank you CG! I shall wear it with pride... and I PROMISE I'll spend some time today catching up on the forum... You've all been awfully supportive and I appreciate it immensely!

Mad at work and at home right now and all I want to do is RUN... but I can't... so... what to do?

Well - how about pump up 14 miles on the bike and try to keep your heart rate in a reasonably "energetic zone" then Aussie? That sounds like fun and provided the ankle doesn't twinge the physio said cycling would be fine...

So - off I went today for a ride... along the towpath to Hampton Court Palace and back... beautiful... I increased the resistance on the bike and kept a fair pace going to try to keep my heart rate up and to at least try to keep my aerobic fitness going while I'm on the "do not run" couch...

I haven't run since last Sunday (the 7th Sep) so I was a little bit worried about fitness. Needn't have been... kept an average heart rate not far off a long run rate for over an hour... and wasn't even out of breath when I got back... :) Aerobic fitness RULES! At least I can use cycling now to keep up that end of things until I can run again... the challenge with cycling is that it's easy enough when I'm home, but a challenge when travelling so I'll be looking for hotels with gyms! Ha - me!!

Anyway - won't bore you all with the details but wanted to let you know that although I can't run yet (and I really can't - ankle hurt at the end of a long day just walking yesterday) I am still keeping active now and trying not to let it get me down... I'll keep the fitness levels up and be back out there soon enough!

Happy running y'all... have a great day!

<Aussie now off to check out all your great feats so far this week>

Great stuff Aussie, got to keep moving if you can! I also went out on my bike this week. We had a course with work and it was fairly local but with nightmare parking, so I thought, why not cycle? Well, it was truly uphill all the way, not even a flat bit, but I didn't have any trouble at all. Can't believe it, but it must be the benefits of running.

Some might say, well that's great it was downhill all the way home, but I'm a bit of a scaredy cat and it was no fun for me. I think I need new brake pads now!

What a shame your ankle is still hurting, but I know you will take care.
