When to run

Hi all! I am new at this and wondered your opinion on when is best to run? My first run I did at noon so after my cereal had had time to digest and before lunch. My second run I did before breakfast as it was sunny. I found I didn't travel as far in my second run as I did my first. Is this due to lack of breakfast or just because it was my second ever run rather than my first? Today I am going to have breakfast and the run at lunchtime again but was curious as to your experiences. Thanks Tanya

Oh and I know the distance as it is logged on Strava.

We’re all different. You’ll evolve through trial and error what suits you best. I leave at least one hour after my porridge oats before running. I like to run with fuel in the tank. Some people like to eat afterwards 🙂

I think its personal preference. I prefer to run before breakfast straight after a cup of tea before I do anything else.

It is very personal.

I prefer early morning runs because it sets me up for the day, but I actually seem to perform at a slightly higher level a bit later in the day............but enjoyment trumps performance in my book.

Were all different, i tried running after work but that was really hard so only did the once, so i used to run early in the morning around 6, it was up dressed and out the door, im doing c25k for the second time this time im having a cup of tea then heading out around 10 which seems to be good too 😃 u will soon find your preferred time, good luck

Hey Tanya. Good for getting out there. There is no specific best time of day to run it will be personal. You could eat the same food and run at the same time of day and find it hard one day and east the next. The important thing is hydration although we are not running marathons it's good to stay lubricated.

I tend to run best in the morning with just a banana or a digestive with cheese before a run and then breakfast when om back but we all different.

Happy running

As others have said it’s personal choice and whatever works for you.

Personally I prefer mornings - sun rise is amazing and I feel ready for the day.

Water and I’m out - generally don’t eat before a run. 😁 happy running 🏃🏼‍♀️
