Literally had no time this morning or any time this evening to squeeze in my run (before dark), so a lunch time run it was! Out of 8 runs, this was my second lunch time run and I don't think I like them very much Always more people, always warmer and I think my body is not at it's best at this time of day! I will be savings these for emergencies only. It was a new route for me as well because I am actually in the office today (we have a shower, don't worry haha).
When is your favourite time of day to run? - Couch to 5K
When is your favourite time of day to run?
Definitely mornings now.
My least enjoyable one in recent weeks was a lunchtime one (W4R3) which should have been a morning one but was delayed due to torrential rain showers that day.
I did do a few early evening ones (5-6pm) at the start but gravitated towards mornings from Week 3 onwards as the running bug bit.
An hour after breakfast but that’s not usually when I can
Mornings are definitely my favourite, I like the fact that it is just other runners or commuters and none of us really want to be there.
My least favourite is evenings, I hate running past people in pubs and evenings feel like it's my time.
Afternoons aren't ideal but I generally just like getting it out of the way as early as possible.
Early mornings are best for me. I run around a wildlife area and I love that there’s just me, the birds and the occasional fox or deer about
It's got to be first thing in the morning for me! Any later in the day and I just can't get into it - not sure if it's the heat, the busy-ness of my route, or maybe I'm more conscious of what I'm eating before I go out running (either too little, too much or the wrong things!).
I generally wake up around 5.30 (5 yr old's fault ), a few sips of water and then out of the door by 6.15/6.30. I can then be back home to shower and sort breakfast out before I start work at 9. I'm generally falling asleep by 8.30pm haha!!!
Well done for getting out there and running while working...impressive. a few years back I worked in a place with a gym. If I got there at by 7:30 I could do 40 mins, shower and be at my desk by 8:30. Now it's an 7:30 - 8:00 am run or 4pm. I prefer the earlier ones too especially in this hot weather. 👍🏻🏃🏼♀️
I run at night, I start out between 9.30 & 10pm. Temperature just right and I find I can run off the stresses of the day ( I have a 12 yr old son who's been at home due to school closure since middle of March), I also like watching for foxes and hedgehogs 😆
May well change the time of day towards the autumn/winter.
Still early days for me but I am finding that I look forward to a run straight after work. That might change when working from home reduces but for now I am loving that switch off after a busy day sitting on my bum
Oh that sounds nice! I am dead on my feet by 5 or 6pm(always been an afternoon napper) so I wouldn’t be able to force myself mentally to go out then x I like the Very ealier starts
Early as I can in the mornings. So about (
5 am now I was late today and the last run at around 7.30 and there are so many more people and cars it’s annoying x
Early morning suits me best - before I know what I’m letting myself in for 😉
I like that there are fewer people around and I’m all done and dusted before starting work at 8am.
Used to have a 2 - 2.5 hr commute each morning so early morning run is a much better way to start the day - way less stressful
6am every time sally1993, that time of day the air is cooler and cleaner, streets are empty, plus the run itself sets you up for the day 👍🏃♂️
Silly o’clock on the morning ... so am out the door at 5.15am ... was originally for two reasons ... 1) social distance at the height of lockdown so I wouldn’t bump into anyone 2) so no one would see me ... especially my neighbour as he and his wife run marathons ! ... but now, it’s engrained and the mornings are so much cooler, so a reason 3 now!
I love late afternoons and evenings, as I’m not a morning person. However, during the summer I do go out at what would appear to be random times... I look for cloud cover, a breeze, and ideally a light drizzle to combat the temperature.
I started C25K in the beginning running after 8pm but now most of my runs are around 6pm to 8pm as early enough to run and eat after. Not a morning runner although did my official half marathon race in the morning. Also probably why I only did two Parkruns before lock down don’t like running in the morning.
