I am so thankful that we can still get out to run!!
I have to admit to being under a slight panic when Boris began his tv bulletin last night and I was selfishly thinking "I have to run!I'm about to graduate!" I contemplated all manner of means of getting this run done - running under cover of darkness or dressed as a tree! Fortunately neither of those drastic measures were necessary.
It was a lovely sunny run, with just a couple of solitary walkers and their dogs on my route. One lady even called "Another person! Hello!" I grinned and waved back.
Thank you to all the wonderful mentors and admins on here who keep us all on the straight and narrow with their encouragement and advice, especially in the recent few days. It is much appreciated.
Thank you too to my fellow forum members, who have supported me along the way with their replies to my posts, encouraging words and good hearted banter. It has really kept me going and I have loved it (and will continue to do so!)
To all those on the Injury Couch (where I spent a considerable amount of time π), your trainers and the runs are waiting for you when you are healed up. Don't push yourself too soon.
To all the newbies - C25k is a brilliant plan with huge benefits that go way beyond improving your fitness. C25k really is the best present you can give to yourself. It may not always be easy and there may be some bumps along the way, but stick with it, the rewards are great.
Okay, I'm off to ask IannodaTruffe for my shiny "Graduate" badge. I joined here just short of a year ago, so this badge has been a long time coming!
This is wonderful news amongst the gloom doom and despondency! Can only send you these πΎ π₯ virtual ones. Congratulations Delly-Dot on your graduation. Happy, happy running and look forward to your next posts!
Congratulations. πππΌπ You must be so pleased to have got there at last, after all the pebbles in your path. You certainly get a special badge for perseverance. βοΈ Enjoy the glow of success. Well done indeed. πππ€ΈπΎββοΈ
πππππWell done Hidden ! So glad you left the tree where it was and enjoyed your graduation run guilt free! What a lovely positive post and how wonderful during such challenging times, to be able to celebrate your achievement. Keep on running and stay safe.π
I am so relieved that we can all still get out there for our runs. So important to mental health and well-being to still be able to get outdoors. Hopefully everyone will be mindful of each other and respect one another's space.
Thank you. It's a great relief that we can still get out there. Running is a lifeline for many, so I'm glad the outdoors is still open, even with its restrictions. Let's hope everyone is sensible.
Congratulations Delly-dot on completing c25k . I've just seen your post , you should be so pleased and proud of yourself and you've got a great badge there π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³
Haha! First lockdown grad, now thatβs a claim to fame π
Many congratulations! Iβve really enjoyed reading your posts as youβve navigated this adventure. Now time for a celebration albeit indoor and 2 metres apart - enjoy, you deserve it ππππΎπ₯π
Thank you! I'm hoping we can all still keep getting out there as being able to run is so much more than running to stay fit, it's for both body and mind. Happy running to you too ππββοΈπ²
Lovely post so well done! I totally agree about how brilliant the admin, mentors and fellow runners are. I have had a groin strain for several days ( moving compost bags) so am itching to get out there!
Love the flash trainers.. what make are they? Iβve got a bit trainer obsessive these days but they become precious items π. Onward with that shiny new badge π
Thank you Nymahchai. I hope that groin strain heals up in a few days. Gardening has a lot to answer for injury wise, but we all still do it!
My trainers are Mizuno. I invested in them during week 4 and I'm so glas I did. They are much muddier than when I started, having never been washed or cleaned (!!!!) but they have lasted me well and I'm in no hurry to change them.
Groin is improving thanks. Hate being on the IC but youβve been there!
The trainers look ideal trail ones for your runs. I bought some trail ones in February but havenβt used them much as our paths have been so full of puddles and mud I didnβt fancy them. As itβs drier now I might try the park again. Yours are well used!
My trainers are great. They are not specifcally for trail, but I explained the surfaces I run at the running shop and they suggested these, amongst others. I have run a mixture of road, path and trail, although it was very much pavement and road during the really wet months as my usual routes became a tough mudder course!
Iβve only just spotted this DD - congratulations! Youβve worked so hard for this so a well deserved πΎ , if socially distant, coming your way!ππππ
Thank you Nilsam! The shoes now look very muddy compared to how new and shiny they were when they came out of the box! Thought it was a good before and after photo! Fortunately I don't look as muddy and worn as my trainers. I might be fitter but I'm not much lighter!! Must be the biscuits and the bars of chocolate ππ«!
That is such positive news! Congrats lockdown graduate well done! Maybe we should rename you - what about LockDellyDotDown? Sounds a bit like the chorus in a folk song though...
Had a good chuckle over the image of you dressed as a tree. I wouldnt recommend that. Even if you keep moving, by the looks of this forum there are a lot of runners with furry friends....
Thank you Whitto. The C25k plan is amazing and it really does work. I was hooked within the first few weeks of starting it back last summer. The benefits of running go way beyond the physical and this was what made me determined to return after injury. I wish you every success on your C25k journey and hope you enjoy it as much as I did. π
