C25K W7R3 a new (muddy) trail and a happy surprise!

My husband is working from home now and planned a morning run, so decided to beast me, oops I mean, encourage me by doing a paired run in a new area (for me) and promised to slow his pace to match mine.

I almost declined this run due to my left ear and sinus being blocked and snuffling but I thought I have not missed a run yet so will have a go (I could always stop if it was too much).

So off we drove to the parkland, wow, HILLY and lots of MUD!

After the 5 minute warm up, I started Endomondo to track my route and pace, I had no clue where all the paths led to! Then, a minute into the run DISASTER my phone went squiffy and I lost my sound; ah well, out came the earpods, no stopping me now... and time to look at the countryside instead. We passed by lakes, lots of woodland, many dog walkers; I felt conscious of holding my husband back on his pace and I was panting and using my tissue due to my snuffly nose.

Husband had a sports watch on and when he decided it was time to stop he declared that we had actually run 5+k, (3.35 miles) in 38 minutes! My legs were like jelly as we did our cool down.

I was chuffed that I had achieved the distance, over hills and mud and with a pesky nose; I had lots of water and a banana then ran a nice bubble bath to treat myself.

A nice surprise for me to see what I had achieved today, considering my first run in week 1 was such hard work! So for any of you new to C25K, if I can do it, so can you, just follow the plan and you will get there!! :D :D :D

I am feeling excited for week 8, getting so close now!

Well done. These are the types of runs that prepare you for anything. Really good time and distance. You're really on your way now!

Well done pippkins, that is great going.

I did my very first park run only a few weeks ago, and had a similar experience.

I was running with a mate who is an experienced and normally fast runner. I was conscious he was holding back staying with me, but I actually ended up running the whole route quite fast.

Keep up the great work, well done again.

Well done, but please stick to the plan.

It is oh so easy to be encouraged by other more experienced runners to do more than our bodies are currently conditioned to do, which raises the injury risk considerably.

Take care.

Thank you and yes, I would have stuck to it if my phone had not had a wobble!

Monday I am back on my solo runs, in my usual area so kind of know how far I have gone due to all the familiar landmarks! :)
