Yey! That’s that one done! I am genuinely amazed that I’ve got this far with my middle aged falling apart body. So far the plan works! Thing is ... other than the interest of whether I could actually run for 20 mins, running is boring. I even run around a beautiful lake in a cathedral city and, well, running is turning out to be boring. How do folks who run for longer than 20mins deal with boredom?

That week 5 run 3 thing
I also run round a beautiful lake in a cathedral city - I wonder if it's the same one! I've found running boring when I've tried it before but this time I haven't had this problem. I think the thing to do is to empty your mind, switch off the inner chatter. I also have favourite music on the headphones which reminds me of happy times and places. The main thing is not to think 'oh God I'm running, how much longer to go, how many minutes to do, am I nearly there yet?' Also vary the route so you have something new to look at.
If it is known for its three spires ... then yes
Ah I have an inner small child ... ‘are we nearly there yet?’ Varying the route is a good tip, thank you, then I won’t have any idea whether I’m nearly there or not!
Ah, no, it's another cathedral city!
This is quite an interesting podcast about mental attitude while running. I didn't agree with it word for word, but definitely took something from it.
Running can be boring if you let it, today i said hello to loads of people walking their dogs and took pleasure from seeing daisies in the grass but we are lucky we run together
Well done for sticking with it
Running is personal time, thinking time, time to watch the changes of the seasons, the sunrises, the sunsets the wildlife ..........stop thinking about time and stop thinking about running..........plan how you are going to be impacted by coronavirus, work out how on Earth we can negotiate a trade deal with Europe, ponder the wonder of our incredible bodies which adapt to ever increasing workloads..........how can you be bored?
Maybe I will develop a running autopilot so I get the headspace to reflect as you say. Right now I am managing a cheery and slightly sweaty wave to folks who kindly move over for me. And try to avoid the hissy Canada geese !
