Anyone skipped a week?

Hi, I’ve just completed W3r2 but I always run for an extra 5 mins at the end & then do my 5 min walk as I feel like I can keep going so just do! I feel like I can definitely do more so am tempted to just move onto w5 but don’t want to ruin my good progress. Thoughts please!

Oh & meant you say this is the first time I’ve ever run, I did no exercise at all before I started this.

I would advise not to but you're an adult....

The steady progression of the programme is designed to get you running for 30 minutes safely, minimizing the injury risk.

Plenty of time for longer runs once your running legs develop 😊

No. When I started c25k I was already pretty fit and could easily have skipped ahead but I didn't. I'd already been told in no uncertain terms by my massage therapist (I have a physical job so have regular sports massages) to complete it fully and do as I'm told to avoid injury.

If you push your muscles too hard too soon you will invite injuries and niggles that will slow any progress you hope to make.

It will get harder and your body needs these foundation runs to build up to the harder ones. Don't be tempted by short cuts and cheating.

Make sure you read the full guide to the programme

If you're finding it "too easy" get over to Strength and Flex and add a strength routine afterwards too and on your running rest days as well.

If you're new to running, then do NOT skip a week, no matter how easy you're finding it.

Taking shortcut at this stage will only set you back at some point.

Thanks all, I’ll keep to the plan! Loving it!

We are all capable of doing way more than our bodies are conditioned to do, but not without increasing our injury risk. Sticking to gently progressive training plans is the safest way to push our limits, whilst gently increasing our resistance to injury.

What's the hurry?
