Hitting another barrier!

First attempt at Wk5R3. Managed 16 or 17 minutes before emerging from the park to a slight gradient and strong headwind just as I was starting to struggle. Not too disheartened as before this plan I hadn't run since school and am 68 next week. App says maximum speed 11.3, maximum pace 5.17. Any advice for Thursday apart from changing the route to avoid "gremlins" in my head?

Congratulations on getting to week5run3! What progress you’ve made, in only 5 weeks even after you’ve not ran in so long!

Obvious suggestion is to slow down, 5.17 I think is a really fast pace, taking it steady from the start will warm your body up nice and slowly, and a really slow and steady pace will be easier to maintain. I always find that if I want to to stop I slow down to a slow snails pace just long enough to catch my breath or for the path to level out when I can breathe easier again and maintain my pace. You could also try reversing your route!?

Good luck and don’t let them gremlins tell you what to do! Show them who’s boss!!

Hello Readandrun

We changed our route after week 2 to avoid steep hills and definitely worth considering but you’re doing great and I think just take it easy and keep going and tell yourself slower is fine. Don’t worry about the speeds, it’s not important, you can do this you know you can.

Hi readandrun congratulations on getting over halfway the wind does make running a lot harder. Like Babysteps advices is to slow down a bit especially if you’re tackling hills ands inclines. Good luck with c25k.

Well done on the practice run. My only advice would be to slow down as I’m sure most are going to say. Good luck 👍😁

That's it.
