At lunchtime today I had a crack at Week 5 Run 2. Take it slow, don't get out of breath was the advice. So I kept my speed right down, but I realised I might be taking it to extremes when a little old lady with a zimmer frame gave me a friendly wave as she overtook me. A little faster then...
I found a speed that felt good and where my breath wasn't too ragged and concentrated on sticking to it. Suddenly Laura was telling me that was eight minutes gone and I could slow down to a walk. A few minutes later and I was exactly half way through the course! Deep down I hadn't really believed I could get this far, but frankly it has been much easier than I feared.
The same technique worked on the second eight minute run and before I knew it Laura was saying I had run for 16 minutes and I should be really proud of myself. At this point I must have got something in my eye...
I got home to find that some luxuries I'd ordered to encourage myself to get to 5 km had arrived. What a lunchtime!

Quick Google... Gosh! I hadn't heard of that before. I love that the Slow Jogging Association's logo is a snail with its foot off the ground.
I must have been going a little bit faster than walking pace, though - after my C25K runs I carry on walking and complete a 6 km loop. I recorded a new personal best to 5k on that trip. Mind you that PB has been falling steadily since I started the programme.
