W7R2 and Iron Maiden nearly killed me

Thought I could go without Laura for this one as it was a second straight run. My son kindly put together a playlist on my phone of songs that he thought I'd like, the first two were pretty easy going as I did my warm up walk, and then I entered the woodland where Laura usually tells me my 5 minutes is up and I stated to run, "run to the hills" started blasting in my ears. He has that teenage sense of humour!

I knew straight away that I was running too fast, but however sensibly I tried to slow down Bruce Dickinson wound me up a bit faster. Normally I don't get really out of breath, its my legs that hold me back, but as I sped up my legs felt a bit more comfortable and I was panting and wheezing as I was flying along (for me that is, in my mind i was like a steam train, to the passing walker more like a game tortoise)

By the time id worked though Kaiser Chiefs, Green day, White Stripes and the Levellers I had come to my usual end point where on W7R1 I had finished... and still had 5 minutes to go! Still trying to slow down and on came "cherry bomb" I don't even know who thats by, and now my poor legs were killing me, and my face must have been puce! Had to pass my house and go down the alley, as I was frantically clock watching the seconds to stop running and walk.

Finally able to walk and get my great back, I felt a mixture of amazement and pride that I'd really pushed myself and the need fall on the grass and rest. Walked in the house to have him grinning at me from the sofa "good run mum?". On hearing that he nearly killed me, he just laughed and informed me that he thought I needed to speed it up a bit. Cheeky boy 😁

so my dilemma now, is do I go back to lovely Laura for run 3, or the bonkers playlist?

That's kids for you you could say lessons learn't but you could give him a list of what you want on there not his choice anyway well done on that one the choice is yours do you trust him or Laura to get you through the next run

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ sorry you have made me laugh out loud this morning. Hubby is now working his way through your playlist for me -aaaagh 😱 For me it would have to be Laura or figure out my own playlist 😎 You did well if you kept the pace up though πŸ‘

Well done....and you are very brave even considering keeping the bonkers playlist. Hopefully the cooler weather will make it easier for us to complete the program. :D

Stick with Laura! Honestly! You could overdo it and hurt yourself. Sounds like you had a blast though. It's good fun int it! I run to Greenday - the one where they sing about *I'm so *uc*ing happy I could cry. I always sing along but don't swear, which makes me titter.

Go steady on your next runs! You can run quicker when you have built up calves and buns of steel. Slow runs build legs. Repeat after me ......

Ha ha. Sorry but your post definitely had me laughingπŸ˜‚. Think I'd be tempted back to the safety of Laura while you complete the 9 weeks, then look to speed up over 30 mins, or lengthen distance with steady pace. I'm going to look at speeding myself up a bit over next couple of weeks, so i may pinch some of your sons songs & see how i get on. Well done for sticking with it though!

Lol πŸ˜‚ Tears running down my cheeks πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Always good to challenge yourself even if unintentionally! Think you may need a bout of Laura to bring you down to earth. Well done. Happy running πŸ‘ŸπŸƒπŸ‘ŸπŸƒ

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I loved running to Iron Maiden-but after graduating :) Not sure I'd have survived the pace in week 7.

Well done :)

Maybe do the first 2 runs of each week left now with Laura then run 3 with your own playlist, best of both worlds :)
