W5R2 - half way there!

โ€ข21 Replies

I figured that once I got today's run out of the way that I am now officially half way through C25K! How awesome is that?!

Such a beautiful morning and made even better by the fact that I have just nailed W5R2. I had to keep reminding myself that the previous walking bits are now just part of the running bits and given that I walk faster than I can run at the moment, it shouldn't be an issue!

I think I've found the Burkey rhythm now, I know what my average pace is and I know that I can breathe properly when I stick to that.

The first 8 minutes was comfortable and I noticed that during my 5 min walk that I recovered way quicker than I thought I would. That spurred me on for the final 8 and like Sanjeev said, all you are doing is repeating what you did for the first 8! And he's right. I just found that steady pace and kept going.

I watched a Japanese slow running video on YouTube last night and I focused on keeping my head up whilst running, taking in my environment and just letting the music carry me.

I did notice my left calf tighten a bit on the last couple of minutes but I think that will ease off. Wasn't painful but I was aware of it.

Really looking forward to Friday's run now. Can't believe what a confidence builder this is. :))))

To everyone doing their runs today, go out and smash it. XX

That's great !

And good to have your pace under control , that will stand you in good stead for the longer runs ,๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ‘

Yep I figured if I keep to what I know works for my body then I'll just keep doing that unti l get to the 30 min stage, then after that work on the time and distance. ๐Ÿ˜

It's such a good feeling though to know I can now keep going for that length of time.

Absolutely, and that it's completely at your control ๐Ÿ‘

You've worked out posture is key too. ๐Ÿ‘

Looking forward, not at your feet, and that has consequences on the rest of the body: straighter spine, better angle between pelvis and hips, etc.

It really helped today I have to admit.

Because I was so self conscious to begin with I had a bad habit of running with my head down which I can imagine impacts the spine and neck etc.

Today I felt much better and actually, I've realised I'm no longer self conscious and just want to run! ๐Ÿ˜

Well done Burkey! See you Friday ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ Currently excited.. might change my mind by Thursday night..! ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿฅด

Yeh same here, I can't help but be a bit excited because that 5 minute walk in between, I think I could have carried on running, I wasn't out of puff at that point. It's making me optimistic for that 20 minutes! Everything crossed here anyway :))) Bring it on!

It is!! I was over the moon! Once I did the first 8 and felt okay, I knew I could carry on and do the same again. Run, walk, repeat! :))

Well done Burkey46, getting 8 mins under your belt is a great achievement๐Ÿ‘ Youโ€™ve done that twice in a row with just a small break in between!๐Ÿ™‚

Youโ€™re doing things the right way so you can be confident youโ€™ll finish the programme now๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Just take it slow and steady then youโ€™ll be fine๐Ÿ˜€

Good luck, Iโ€™m sure youโ€™ll do it, but do post on here if you need support, advice or encouragement!๐Ÿ˜Š
