I completed week 1!

A week ago as I struggled to get up the stairs at the tube station to exit to the street - I was fed up, depressed feeling very negative and unfit. I really enjoy my food and going out for drinks with friends but of course, I overindulged at Xmas but just ended up feeling even worse about myself!

I came across the Couch to 5k programme and thought I'd give it a go as it looked like it was manageable for someone like me and ....... I have just completed my first week! I'm feeling very pleased with myself and have noticed it has lifted my mood quite a bit so far and am now committed to seeing it through to the end! I have to say it's brilliant to have Michael Johnson coaching me on my journey - it really helps me!

I want to aim for the local Park Run after I graduate as that looks like a great thing to do with others (it's a bit lonely doing it by myself right now). Anyway just wanted to share my little achievement here :-)

Well done! It is wonderful that you are seeing benefits already. I find running really lifts my mood too and I get a buzz from running that stays with me for the rest of the day. The sense of achievement when you complete a run is priceless. Enjoy your c25k journey. 😊

Hi there

I've just graduated this week and done my first 5k without walking this morning so can vouch for the programme working. I also had Michael Johnsons dulcet tones encouraging me through the process.

I struggled to run for 1 minute in that first week and doubted myself every week that I could do the next week but you can trust the programme really works. It took me 16 weeks instead of 9 due to life getting in the way and I repeated some weeks until I felt confident to attempt the next week.

Good luck with it 🏃‍♀️

Hello there,

Thanks for your comments. Yes Michael's encouragement is really helping me to get there. I do feel like I can do this - even just after the first week!

I suspect my journey will be like yours...life does have a habit of getting in the way of things with me ... but equally I am determined to do this -so it really helps to hear about others experience with the programme - and to get encouragement is brilliant too!

Thanks!

Well done , like you I just completed the first week today and feeling great, on the first run I couldn’t make the 60 seconds , it’s great to see yourself improve, today I managed each short run without too much difficulty, let’s keep going , too on next week.

And well done to you too! Yes it's amazing how just from this first week how much positive impact I feel it has had already. I'm also loving all the positive thoughts from others - I'd been feeling so negative recently - but this has changed. I'm sure there will be bumps along the way but right now I am feeling better than I have done for months!
