W5 R1...will I make it through R3?

Hi runners

Just about to start W5, should I be worried about R3? it looks daunting jogging for 20 minutes!

I’m 67 and still going strong, I hope!

Loving MJ as trainer, I’m counting on him to get me through it!

Totally count on him to get you through. The plan works, trust it and yourself. Take it slow and steady, you can always speed up at the end if you feel you have something left to give. Love the photo. Happy running

Don’t worry, you have done the work to get to this point and you are now ready. Take it slow and steady, drink plenty water and enjoy.

W5R1 is a total of 15 minutes running. W5R2 is 16 minutes., so 20 minutes is perfectly doable, as thousands of users here will attest. Week 4 sees the biggest increase in running time of the whole program ... and you've done that ... so...

... by the time you've done W5R2 you'll have 157 minutes of running under you belt. Surely enough to ready your body for a 20 minute jog!

Remember my mantra: every run you've done prepares you for the next one, It's very simple but true. Your body is ready but the mind not so...

Good luck - you'll be fine!

It's all psychological Bigall, just get your head into the same place that you've got your body into over the last 4 and a bit weeks and go out there telling yourself that you're going to kick it's butt !!

Completing W5R3 is one of the best feelings of the whole programme and you can't deny yourself what it feels like to complete the run, you'll punch the air, grin all the way home on your cool down walk and walk tall feeling more like a runner than ever.

You can do it

Brian.

No, you shouldn't be worried. Everything you've done up to now has prepared you for this. Just trust the programme.

Good luck 👍

Well done on getting to week 5 Bigall!

This time last week I was thinking pretty much what you are now. But, I did it and made it through! I really think it's more of a mental barrier than a physical one...I found it fine and actually really enjoyed it! :)

Keep going, good luck, and we'll see you next week when you're encouraging another C25K through week 5 run 3! :)

If you start out really slow you will be fine to get to the end, trust the programme it’s prepared you for each run, you might even find you have a bit left near the end to speed up a bit and that’s a great feeling

good luck

If you've done all the other weeks then week 5 run 3 will be great! You'll love it!
