W5 R1 has got through although slightly humiliated half way through!

Was looking forward to this run just because I knew it would be a change and was eager to find out how I would feel with the longer runs.

Started off ok, first 5min went fine, then half way through the second 5 min run a guy came steaming past me probably going 3 times the speed I was going! Slightly humiliating! It did make me feel like a feeble snail 🐌 😟. The last five minutes was ok but was flagging at the half way point, then I suddenly checked my posture and realised I was quite slumped! Then I remembered what the guy said in the Japanese slow running vid. Imagine a piece of string is attached to your head and is pulling you up straight. Once I’d straightened up I felt so much stronger and finished with ease! Yay don’t care if I’m a snail!!

Well done!

That WILL be you in the very near future... striding past new runners and know what they're going through!

You've got this!

Well done! Don't worry about being overtaken, as long as you are jogging, it doesn't matter about anyone else and as Jo says often.. it's not a race, just go slowly and pace yourself!

Great tip for staying up tall as well.. I sometimes find myself looking at the ground panting away but then am aware and try and look up.. the scenery is lovely, we just need to remember to look at it :-).

Well done again.. I've got one more run to do and I'm on Wk 5, daunting!

Aww thanks! Yes very important to look at what’s going on around you. At one time I just couldn’t do that bit now I’m getting used to the runs I find it easier.

Please don’t worry about W5 it really isn’t bad. I haven’t looked at my next run. I like to keep it that way so I don’t overthink things! Good luck and enjoy your last run of W4 😁.

Yes, I totally agree.. I never look at the next sequence of runs as it might put me off! I'm off to the Scottish Hebrides tomorrow and hoping to run alongside a loch.. will post a photo! TTFN

Great! I’m off to Dumfries and Galloway not quite as high as you but stunning scenery too! Am sure we’ll be running in the rain ☔️ though! 😀

It’s so annoying!

My posture tends to be on the slumped side when running too. The effort of standing upright is too much when you’re dribbling 😂

Thanks for filling me in. I’m not really familiar with knowing my pace as I don’t have one of those watches but maybe that’s a good thing for now. That will be something to get when I get to the end!!🙏 😀

I think i know that guy, they passed me on my run in Bristol, sure they are evil and got their powers through Dark and Sinister means. Or they are alien.

Poor guy he’s probably just doing the 20 min run on W5! I’ve seen loads of runners when I’m out running and I’m convinced they are all doing C25K!

Thanks so much for explaining that. I hope by the end of this I’ll be inspired to do park runs etc. I can’t ever imagine being able to run 10k but I suppose if I can keep it up post graduation who knows!!

Let those other runners get on with it! Slow is ok. About 4 runners whizzed past me too this morning. 😂 When I looked at my splits tho they were good for me so I don’t care 🤷🏻‍♀️. Just keep on running 😊
