So after the my first Parkrun at Dartford Heath at the weekend when I was a little disappointed with my performance. I went out on Monday evening and ran to try and move Mr Nagging Doubt from my head. I ran for 3.52 miles without stopping in 33.33 so further and longer than the Parkrun and the 5k was under 30 mins. So on analysis I shouldn’t of ate before I ran especially so close to the actual run, unaware of the route, insufficient or the right sort of fluids before hand, unaccustomed to running with loads of other runners, unused to running in extreme cold and maybe I don’t like running in the morning, so many reasons for what to me felt like a failure having to walk yet if I ran that time which I have on an evening run I have been pretty happy with it. So it’s a bit of a funny one. Good luck to everyone running this week.
Pap17 Back out there: So after the my first... - Couch to 5K
Pap17 Back out there
Pap17 you did well getting out in this weather... you did it that’s what counts and you learn from it...
we all have bad days and reading what you put too, you now know and you have proven that with your next run. Well done you, hope your next park run is a good one....
After this week I’m hoping to start park runs also. Keep up good work happy running. 🏃♀️😀
Nice run... and it sounds like that parkrun gave you the opportunity to do some more learning about what works for you, so that was great too.
Maybe you set your sights too night on the Parkrun? I've never done one, but with so many people, I think I'd be expecting a slow time (avoiding dogs, small children and people in general).
Main thing is, did you enjoy the park run? Was it fun?
Mig
Hi Mig, there was 112 people and it wasn’t bad there were a few with dogs, didn’t see very young children but did expect to run it without the need to walk that was my issue. The time I have done previously when running alone so maybe that was another issue I was going too fast although the mile and 1/2 mile splits were no different to my lone runs. Then to achieve that time including walking. Will do another but slower I think.
You did your first parkrun which is great. Has your parkrun got more hills or anything than your usual running route. The reason I ask is I'm the opposite, all my normal running routes have inclines and hills where as my parkrun is nearly flat and that's why I'm faster at parkrun.
Just a thought. You're doing great anyway . How the HM training going😊
No my Parkrun was pretty flat just expected to get round it without walking but hey it happens will do another in a couple of weeks as this weekend appearing as an emergency KC Judge for an Agility show in Essex at very short notice.
did you manage a good warm up? i know at ours we stand about at the briefing trying to jig on the spot.and also it can take 45 seconds to get through the start as ours usually has 450-550 runners.all little factors to take into account.
The park run near me has a well known hill everyone calls angina hill . I’m not going anywhere near it until i can run 5K easily
