I'm back!!!!!

I know, I've been very quiet since my aquathlon! Truth is I've been knocked sideways by a horrible virus which is the last thing I need with only two weeks to go until my foolish triathlon! It's been tough not exercising at all for almost a week but I'm relaunching my running tomorrow with Eastbourne Parkrun! I may end up walking it but, as so many very wise people say (probably Oldfloss and IannodaTruffe ), 5k is still 5k whether you walk it or run it!

If you've never done a Parkrun before, this weekend is THE weekend to start. National Lottery athletes will be tail runners/walkers at Parkruns all over the country - you'll never have another opportunity to say you ran 5k faster than an Olympian!

So have a great comeback Park Run after your nasty virus. And I know Mr Smooth isn't a National Lottery athlete, but I can dream that he may be there with you. If he is please tell him I said hello....

And if you get Mo, then well deserved you...

Welcome back!

Thank you Jan!

They've already said who will be at our run - that I can't remember their name speaks volumes but they ARE an Olympic athlete! I would travel the length of the country to run Mo's parkrun - but I have a feeling he won't be doing one!

Olympic athlete counts, because anyone who is Olympic standard is a hero. You deserve Mo anyway in my book... and if ever he does one, your name should be number one on the list.

You're absolutely right - no athlete - even the likes of Mo and Usain - will ever have the kind of lifestyle that a Premiership football enjoys. A lot of very hard work in very unexotic destinations. And thank you - that's a lovely thing to say that I'm not sure I entirely deserve!

5k is 5000metres or 2500 two metre long sofas.......

Where does the wisdom come from?

and think of the amount of people sitting on 2,500 two metre long sofas you'd lap! that really would be some couch to 5k!!!!

5k is 5k - no matter how you get there! I'm tail walking tomorrow at my local parkrun, so I'm hoping for some walkers to walk with :)

Good for you - I'll volunteer to do that one day!

This is only my second parkrun as I can only get there about once a month. I ran/walked the last one and am hoping by the next time I can get there I will be able to run most if not all of it!

I've only managed to run one completely - but I love them. They're such a buzz. I've done a couple of different ones. At my first one at Eastbourne I wasn't sure where to go - and a super fast guy who had already finished saw my panic, ran back onto the circuit and ran with me for about 200 metres, encouraging me to ran the last bit. It was amazing. That, to me, is what Parkrun is all about.

Go you!!!

I have walk/ runned so far in these last few weeks!!!

I am glad you are feeling better... and a walk in the park, :) .... could be just the thing... If I can manage a 34 min, 5K after so many weeks getting back to it, after the IC... you will most certainly, fly it !

Good luck sweetie ! xxxx

Thanks Oldlfloss!

Oooooh - a 34 min 5k - that's something to aim for! My 10k aspirations are temporarily on hold until after the triathlon but then I'll be facing that challenge!
