I've been worried about this run for a while, 20 minutes straight up and down the hilly area I live in felt hard and sure enough the hard part was the mental side of things - I managed to convince myself last night that I could do it, but this morning had lost my confidence.
1 minute in to the run and I was struggling, 2 minutes in I knew I couldn't do it, 5 minutes in, hmm maybe just maybe, 10 minutes in and I started to believe again.
At the 18 minute mark an army couldn't have stopped me.
By the end I was less physically tired than the previous session, bring on week 6!

Brilliant post Boabba... just proves that if you have the will and determination, you succeed. Hope I achieve as much as you have - but I am on the right path and posts like this really help.
You're absolutely right, its 50% physical and 50% mental.
As you move until the longer runs, you should start to prepare yourself for the first 5 to 10 minutes of each run being hard. It's a natural barrier you have to break through.
But boy oh boy, doesn't feel good to know you can go for that long, non stop!
Hi Buddy34, I have just come back from St Andrews where it was a beautiful day and I had a long walk along the promenade where I saw many other walkers and especially runners, in fact the first runner I saw was only 30 seconds after I got off the bus, she was running along the road, not the promenade.
It did seem strange not getting off at Dunfermline, as the bus passed the entrance to the park where the parkrun is held I just got a quick glimpse of about 6 marshalls at the start getting ready for the run which at that time still was 25 minutes to go before it began.
I noticed that there were 326 running at Drumpelliier today, much more than normal, this was due to Strathclyde Parkrun being cancelled due to ice on the course.
I’m finding the step up to the next week a bit challenging but I think a lot of it is mentally rooted. I was on verge of giving up my fourth run of the session last night but my son told me of course I could do it, and to just get on with it. He was right
Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran 🏃🏾 😊
Congratulations, it’s an amazing feeling isn’t it? I focus on the half way part and just argue with myself that If I can get that far then it’s all downhill until the end, so far I’ve won the argument every time 😁
That's great well done. Week 5 run 3 is epic isn't it! I think the first5 minutes of every run is tricky, but on these longer runs you can get into your stride! Really well done, it's a great feeling to complete that run and after that everything else kind of falls into place!
