Week 5 run 3

Well got up at 5;45 and faced the dreaded 20 minute run. The app had been playing up on my previous run so just to be on the safe side I set my watch. I'm so glad I did as I selected wk5 r3, week 3 came on! I did the 5 minute walk and the app stopped so I looked at my watch and tried to time my run for 20 mins. I set off at a very slow pace and continued my run at this level. I didn't look at my watch until 13 minutes had passed and couldn't believe I only had 7 more to go. I felt very positive and continued telling myself I wouldn't look at my watch until I had reached the train tracks. By this point I had actually run for 22 mins.

I have not run since school and I hated it. 5 weeks ago a struggled to run for 1 minute. It just shows that the programme really does work.

I'm feeling very proud of myself and would just like to say to everyone on here keep going and believe in yourself and the programme. I'm an unfit 50 year old if I can do it so can you.

Well done you and so you should be proud . 20 minutes non stop that's amazing, as you said when you think back to wk1 . It shows you what you can achieve with the right plan and great effort 😊

Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran, you will no longer be a unfit 50 year old once you have completed C25K with W9R3 and graduated, you are now just over half way through the program. 😊 πŸƒ

Thank you. I did actually find run 2 of week 5 harder. I found s slow jog for 20 mins easier than interval running. I had to dig deep after the walk to run for the final 8 minutes. I think week 6 will feel the same. I will keep to a slow jog.

Runs 1 and 2 have interval walks, from run 3 of week 6 to the end of run 3 of week 9, no more walking breaks.

Thanks for your post. I’m feeling inspired. As a 56 year old, overweight and never having run before the c25k, I face the w5r3 on Sunday. I can do this!
