Hi, in Jan 2020 I plan to join the local C25K in Redditch Worcestershire. This will be a group session and the fifth time I’ve done it now. I have a dodgy right knee, which has stopped me in the past. Going to strap it up and jog slowly. I’ll never be Paula Radcliffe but for my fitness, I’d just like to jog 30mins three times a week. This will include the Parkrun. Determined not to overdo it too quickly 🏃♂️
One More Try: Hi, in Jan 2020 I plan to join the... - Couch to 5K
One More Try
Fingers crossed Pebblewalkrun2019! Hope your knee will enjoy it as much as you do 😁 Let us know how it is going.
Will do x
Welcome to the forum, have you thought about doing this on your own? That way you may not feel pressured into trying to keep at other people's pace or feeling like you're slowing others down?
When I started the program, I've done it twice and my wife suggested I join a club, I was worried about slowing other down and did it on my own on a treadmill (long story).
I hope you manage to complete C25K which ever way you do it, just take it slow and steady and remember to post up your progress.
I’ve always found that the group sessions are good for me. I don’t relish running on my own in the dark and as I work full time this is a must. I just need to keep the speed down and jog slowly to start with. I did get up to 7k before, but I had knee problems so had to pack it in for a bit 😊
Hello Pebblewalkrun and welcome to the forum! If you’ve done C25K before you’ll have seen Iannoda Truffe’s pinned post with details for newbies but it would be worth your reading through it again for all you need to know. Do you have some decent trainers? That might help your knee a bit. Stay well hydrated and, yes, take it slow and then slow down! The others in the group will thank you for it! Let us know how you get on - that’s the rules! Where does your C25K run? I visit my brother in Redditch regularly so you’ll occasionally see me puffing around Moreton Stanley Park - I’ve even been known to stagger up the slope by the car park (otherwise known as a mountain to me!). Good luck!
I do the Arrow Valley Parkrun and I’m a member of the Kingfisher Harriers
Progress!!!!! Week one now in the bag!!! I’m using a knee support and I’m finding it most helpful. My left knee didn’t feel like it was going to come apart. I’ve made two running buddies already. Great to be back 🏃♀️🏃♂️
