Well I've embarked on what I'm hoping is going to be a life changing experience for me. It's called C25k. I have tried and failed miserably to run around my local park/racecourse and it is very upsetting. However I do have a treadmill which I go on now and again so when a colleague showed me her download of this I thought I'd give it a go. I have in the past and do still do a 10 min warm up and a twenty minute run on the treadmill, but I just cannot manage this out in the fresh air! So I'm gonna start this regime and see if I can give myself the stamina I need to be able to jog around the park without having to walk most of the way. Fingers crossed, I'll keep you posted.

Keep at it. This is a great programme. You're going to love it, and how it changes the way that you feel about yourself.
I realise that that last comment makes me sound as if I've joined a cult, which I suppose in a way that I have.
Hi Delores - I am so grateful for the podcasts - between the steps and the music (and it is free!) it really has made a difference. I found that the first run was the toughest and had a huge meltdown/crying jag. Second time I knew what to expect. We are all in this together!
When I started last year running for a minute was very difficult, and doing six times was interminable. Tonight I ran for 25 minutes, albeit slowly, and covered 3k. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't as hard as it would have been last year.
I was watching the Team GB parade today, and thinking about how the Olympics has effected the way I think about my own performance. When I saw the swimmer Rebecca Adlington interviewed after her race she said how hard it was and I realised that sport is hard for all of us, it's just that some of us are doing it faster or longer or higher. As long as I run for as long as I can I'm doing the best I can within the limits of my ability and my body limitations.
Congratulations on becoming a C25Ker... no money required to become a member, nobody cares how lobster-like you look after you've finished your run, nobody cares how long it takes you to get there, and we are all doing something for ourselves rather than others. Well done on taking that first step, I'm doing the first run of W4 tonight (OMG) can't believe how quickly it's going
I love this cult & welcome!!!!! I agree, you will be shocked my how quickly the weeks go by and you will be amazed at your progress! Great job in getting started!
